#ArcanoGlobalResearch | Our new report examines Iran's recent missile attack on Israel—the second this year—and explores the potential consequences for international stability and #markets. We address three critical questions: 🔹How the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran might unfold and its immediate implications. 🔹What roles global powers are playing and how their involvement could shape the conflict's trajector. 🔹Under what scenarios this escalation could disrupt global oil markets and economic growth. By analysing these issues, we provide essential insights into potential economic fallout—including base case and tail-end scenarios—helping you understand how Israel's expected retaliation might affect global oil prices. The Middle East’s new and dangerous reality results from one factor above all: the collapse of any coherent U.S. policy toward Iran. My latest column:

Dawn Business and Finance 22 Jan https://lnkd.in/givxWr6R Oil markets on edge Syed Rashid Husain Published January 22, 2024 Is the Middle East war theatre expanding? Already, the region, crucial to the stability of the global energy supply-demand dynamics, was coping with the ongoing Hamas–Israel conflict. Now it seems several other players are getting sucked into the war. Oil markets have largely been calm to the war.

Tehran’s Tactics: Iran, Its Proxies, and US Middle East Policy Chicago Council on Global Affairs 9 Oct 2024 The conflict in the Middle East is sure to loom large over the 2024 presidential election. A key player in the region, Iran has frustrated the US and its allies with its nuclear ambitions and support for proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah. How does Iran factor into US Middle East policy, especially now that it has new leadership? How might the presidential candidates differ in their approach to Iran and its role in the Israel-Hamas conflict? And how might Iran's relationship with countries like Russia and China shape US policymakers’ thinking? Join us for a conversation with Michael Singh, Behnam Ben Taleblu, and Suzanne Maloney as we discuss these questions and more.

ACADEMY SITREP – IRAN ELECTS A REFORMIST PRESIDENT July 8, 2024 https://lnkd.in/g3dBq9_b What has Happened: -Over the weekend, it was announced that reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian won the runoff presidential election in Iran, beating hardliner Saeed Jalili, a former nuclear negotiator. -Pezeshkian, a 69-year-old cardiac surgeon and member of Iran’s Parliament who also served as its First Deputy Speaker from 2016 to 2020, will replace Ebrahim Raisi who died in a helicopter crash in May. -However, while Pezeshkian campaigned on reaching out to the West and easing enforcement of the country’s mandatory headscarf law, we do not expect any change to Iranian foreign policy at this time. -Pezeshkian also promised no radical changes to Iran’s Shiite theocracy and believes that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has the final say in all matters of state. -The concern is that with the election in Iran behind him, Khamenei will continue to focus on supporting Iranian proxy forces in the region, including Hezbollah, which has increased its attacks on northern Israel significantly in the past few weeks.
