At Pillars, our "Days Away" program is a cornerstone of our core values: curiosity, creativity, and community. This initiative is much more than just time away from the desk—it's an invitation to step outside daily routines and immerse ourselves in diverse experiences that fuel personal and professional growth. Throughout the past year, our team members have embarked on journeys across the United States and abroad. Each destination has offered unique opportunities to delve into subjects that pique individual interests and resonate with our mission at Pillars. For instance, some explored national housing reform, while others embraced the Danish concept of "hygge," studied the intricacies of transit systems in Mexico City, or investigated environments designed for the Creative Class. These travels are not just about seeing new places; they're about bringing back transformative ideas and applying them creatively to our projects. By engaging deeply with various cultures and innovations, our employees return with enriched perspectives that enhance our work and strengthen our community. At Pillars, every journey is a chance to learn and grow. We celebrate these experiences, which not only foster personal growth but also drive our collective quest for innovation and connection. Our workplace thrives on the curiosity and creativity that these adventures stir, making us more than just colleagues—we're a community that grows together. #JoinPillars #DaysAway #Curiosity #Creativity #Community

As I enter my 15th year (!!!) in my Corporate Social Responsibility career, this mantra resonates deeply in both my personal and private life. I’m blessed to live in Colorado’s Front Range, where weekends or days off allow me to summit some of the best the the Colorado Rocky Mountains have to offer. Similar to summiting a peak, CSR isn't about showcasing achievements or ticking boxes; it's about exploring uncharted territories, overcoming challenges and gaining insights into the diverse landscapes of social and environmental issues. Navigating CSR involves perseverance, adaptability and a commitment to understanding the complexities of the world we inhabit. It's about embracing the journey, not just reaching the summit. So, let's continue to climb those metaphorical mountains not for accolades or personal recognition, but to gain a clearer, more compassionate view of the world around us. Together, let's embark on this journey of discovery, empathy, and positive change. #CorporateSocialResponsibility #ImpactJourney #SeeTheWorldThroughCSR

I am a blue drop Some time ago, I made a bold decision to dive into a new red ocean—an environment known for its speed and relentless pursuit of excellence. As a blue drop, I believed that my experience and values of diversity and inclusion would be assets in this competitive space. From the start, I did my best to adapt. I brought my ideas, promoted collaboration, and showed that diversity could lead to success. Being patient, believed in my coworker capacity and mines. But it quickly became clear that my efforts were seen as a disruption. My approach didn’t align with the site culture, and my ideas felt out of sync with what was expected from some people. Yesterday, after my day work, 2 minutes before to leave, in the awful way I was told that I didn’t fit in. I was pulled out of that ocean. Yes, it felt like a failure. But looking back, I realized that the environment just wasn’t right for me. I learned that sometimes, it’s not about changing who we are to fit into a mold, but about finding a place that values our strengths and differences. Today, I see that experience as a stepping stone. I had to leave that ocean to find a current where inclusion, resilience, and diversity are truly drivers of success. A heartfelt thank you to those who saw my value, even in an environment where I didn’t quite fit. Your support and recognition meant the world to me, and it’s thanks to people like you that I continue to believe in the power of authentic connections and true appreciation. As professionals, we often strive for big wins and major achievements. But let's not forget the importance of celebrating the small victories that make a big impact. Recently, I shared a moment of unexpected camaraderie with a valued customer - we showed up at an event wearing the exact same sports coat! It was a reminder that it's the little things that can bring us together and create a sense of connection. Small victories aren't just about matching outfits; they also include the incremental improvements we make every day to enhance energy efficiency and upgrade infrastructure. Whether it's optimizing processes, reducing waste, or implementing sustainable practices, each step forward brings us closer to our goals and reinforces our commitment to excellence. So let's take a moment this week to acknowledge and celebrate the small triumphs that often go unnoticed but play a significant role in our journey towards success. Cheers to embracing every opportunity for improvement and cherishing the moments that remind us of our shared purpose and achievements. Solving business problems with Digital & AI solutions | $32M+ in profits by automation | Launched 67 Digital Platforms | Invested in 8 Startups | 23 Keynotes delivered | 10 years of Enterprise Monkey | Geelong Authority
When I moved to Geelong in 2012, I was filled with excitement and a bit of apprehension. Starting fresh in a new city, I believed that success was a solo journey. I thought hard work and determination alone would get me to where I wanted to be. But over the years, I’ve learned that success is rarely achieved in isolation. It’s the power of community and collaboration that truly drives innovation and growth. In the early days of Enterprise Monkey, we faced numerous challenges that seemed insurmountable. But the Geelong community was incredibly welcoming and supportive. It was through building a strong network of mentors, peers, and partners here that we found the support and resources needed to overcome these obstacles. Collaboration opened doors to new ideas and opportunities that we couldn’t have accessed on our own. Here’s what I’ve learned: Build a Strong Network: Surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you. Their support and insights can propel you forward. Collaborate Openly: Don’t be afraid to share your ideas and seek feedback. Collaboration can lead to unexpected breakthroughs. Support Others: Offer your help and expertise to others. Building a community means giving as much as you receive. Celebrate Together: Success is sweeter when shared. Celebrate the wins, big and small, with your team and network. Geelong’s vibrant community spirit showed me that no one succeeds alone. Embrace the power of community and watch your journey transform. #Community #Collaboration #Innovation #Leadership #Support #GrowthMindset 🌟🤝

Rise and Shine! Raleigh area Coffee with Leaders hosted by the Raleigh Chamber was such an incredible event yesterday morning. I was able to share more of my story and introduce ways to be inspired by nature in growing and analyzing the health of your business and ecosystem. Here were some of the takeaways that resonated with the more than 60 area leaders who joined: 1. Ecosystems and systems-thinking inspired by nature to fuel business health and growth. 2. #coexisting in a space where #holistic health + living boldly can coexist structurally. 3. For those structural engineers in the audience - a correlation of keystone species in an ecosystem with the keystone in a structural arch to all business leaders identifying the keystones in your business! 4. Be a beaver. Strategically working to impact and engineer their ecosystem! 5. Driving Population Health as a community priority is possible on all projects, thanks to a tool @Perkins&Will launched entitled Precede. 6. Design your career - intentionality plus setting goals 7. Invest in an annual solo ‘MEtreat’ to focus on goal setting towards your Life’s Work! 8. Celebrate Milestones There was the buzz that carried folks into their day with a charge to ‘BEE the Change!’ Let’s keep focused on bringing more life and vitality to our community.
