Recommendations to the European Union and its Member States on the transposition of the RED III industry target for RFNBO consumption (A recently published paper by Hydrogen Europe ) The Renewable Energy directive (REDIII) aims to promote #energy from #renewable sources by creating a favourable #regulatory and #investment framework that helps accelerate #emissions reduction and reduce reliance on #fossil fuels. It specifically mandates the use of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) in transport and industry. For industrial uses, it sets ambitious targets, requiring at least 42% RFNBO usage by 2030 and 60% by 2035. This paper presents a summary of the main #transposition options, and more importantly, it identifies and describes what the enabling conditions are to ensure a successful uptake of RFNBO in industry and to support the achievement of the renewable energy targets. In summary, the successful implementation of REDIII targets requires a #coordinated effort between Member States, industry #stakeholders, and regulatory bodies and dedicated attention to the enabling conditions that make the industry thrive, promoting #sustainability and #competitiveness within the European Union. On January 18th, several departments of Hainan Province jointly issued the "Hainan Province Medium and Long-term Plan for #hydrogen Energy Industry Development (2023-2035)", proposing that by 2025, the number of #fuelcell vehicles will reach around 200, with the deployment of 6 hydrogen refueling stations, and the capacity for #renewableenergy hydrogen production will reach 100,000 tons per year.  🚢 This hydrogen will primarily be used for the production of #greenmethanol for ships, to meet the needs of 2-3 methanol-powered container ships, achieving a reduction of 1 million tons of CO2 emissions annually through the demonstration of #greenhydrogen industrial parks. To achieve the above goals, the "Plan" deploys the following key tasks: implementing 1) hydrogen application scenario demonstration projects 2) low-carbon green hydrogen supply projects 3) green hydrogen industrial park demonstration projects 4) cooperation and exchange platform projects 5) safety management projects 🔗:https://lnkd.in/dtyNqPYv

TNO released the Evaluation of the levelized cost of hydrogen LCOH based on proposed electrolyser projects in the Netherlands Renewable Hydrogen Cost Element Evaluation Tool #RHyCEET  Presented by Minister Rob Jetten (Climate & Energy) and Minister Micky Adriaansens (EZK) to the House of Representatives. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the cost components involved in the production of renewable hydrogen through electrolysis. The report is an important step towards realizing the potential of renewable hydrogen in our energy transition. Efforts are exerted to drive down the #LCOH - Lowering CAPEX by further standardizing the Balance of Plant and fully embracing innovation. - Increasing the amount of running hours by offering ancillary services, running when hourly prices are below 20 €/MWh. - Recognizing the system integration role of electrolysers and therefore proposing lower and more cost-reflective network tariffs for electrolysers.
