Have we discussed The Language of Choice? Empowering patients through compassionate communication is at the core of exceptional healthcare. As healthcare professionals, our role goes beyond just relaying information - it's about building trust, connecting on a human level, and treating patients as active participants in their care journey. Navigating medical complexities can be daunting, but by listening to patients' concerns, offering information in plain language, and respecting their autonomy, we can help them feel in control amidst uncertainty. Mastering the "Language of Choice" is about fostering understanding, respect, and partnership in healthcare. By prioritizing patient empowerment and collaborative decision-making, we enhance their experience and the quality of care we provide. I look forward to sharing more insights on this essential approach and engaging in discussions to improve patient-centered care. Let's strive for excellence by blending clinical expertise with empathetic communication. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. #humanexperience #patientexperience #practicetlc #KeepWinning #thesearchforwellness #artofcommunication #stressisyourfriend #languageofchoice #languageoflimits #discoverchoice #powerofchoice #mindset #DrSean #practicetlc #thelanguageofchoice #thelanguageofcaring #physiciansexperience #healthcareexperience #delightfulexperiences

Our Sternberg Professor of Leadership and renowned medical expert, Dave A. Chokshi, MD, recently wrote an article for the New England Journal of Medicine highlighting the ethical implications of providing care in safety-net health systems. "We should also consider the moral obligations of the rest of the health care system to support the safety net, given its essential role. The ethical principle of solidarity, more commonly invoked outside the United States, captures this mutuality of obligation. Patients like Ms. M. and broader communities benefit when safety-net health systems are empowered — with resources and by means of policy — to fulfill their mission."
