Roy Rogers said, "The greatest legacy we can leave our children is happy memories." Absolutely! But those cherished memories are best built on a foundation of security. For veterans and active military personnel, that security comes through thoughtful estate planning, including the potential benefits of a trust. Deployment and service can bring periods of uncertainty. A well-crafted trust can provide peace of mind knowing your family's financial needs are met, even if you're away or incapacitated. Here's how a trust can benefit you and your loved ones: Streamlined Distribution: Bypassing the lengthy and costly probate process, a trust allows for a smoother and more efficient distribution of your assets to your loved ones. This translates to quicker access to the financial resources they need during a difficult time. Tax-Saving Strategies: Depending on the type of trust you choose, you may be able to minimize estate taxes, preserving more of your wealth for future generations to enjoy. Peace of Mind: Knowing your loved ones have the financial resources they need, even during your absence or a period of incapacity, allows you to focus on serving your country and creating those cherished memories with your family. Don't let the challenges of deployment or future uncertainties overshadow the happy memories you create with your family. Schedule a consultation with us today to discuss incorporating a trust into your estate plan. We're dedicated to helping you build a secure foundation for a lifetime of happy memories. #veteranlegacy #militaryfamily #financialplanning #estateplanning #trusts

Calling all veterans, serving members of the armed forces and their partners. Take a minute and consider your partner, and your family. Maybe you have children. Do you know what will happen to them if anything happens to you? Where will they live? What will happen to the schooling and education for your kids? What community will wrap around them and support them when they need it most? Will it be the community they are part of now? Sadly there is little information on the outcomes for the bereaved partners and children of Service families. Even less than the information on the Armed Forces. If you don't track it; you don't know if there's an issue; you don't have to do anything about it. Or am I being too cynical? In this week's podcast, we are talking with Jilly Carrell, "The Accidental Activist for Bereaved Military Community". Thank you for trusting us to share your experience and for all you're doing to change this. The support when there is a death in military service should reflect the service, commitment and oath of allegiance. You would think that ✅ Your family would be assigned someone to help with welfare and emotional support. ✅ There would be a joined-up after-service support ✅ Easy access to things such as dentists, doctors and schooling. For veterans, there is Op Courage, Fortitude, Nova and Prosper. Where do bereaved partners and children sit in terms of how they are supported and their needs tracked and met? Are they part of the Veteran Community? Seems not. They fall into no man's land. Not quite civilian, not quite Armed Services or Veteran. Isn't it about time the Office of Veterans Affairs looked at having an Op Families for the joined-up wrap-around service support? This country has been at war, peacekeeping on major exercises for the past 80 years. Things have to improve. The families serve just as much as the service person. Who can you share your views on this with? The iceberg; a metaphor for the experiences of many military parents. On the surface, it may appear that military families just cope and become accustomed to the many curveballs thrown their way. But sometimes what people fail to understand is that underneath it all there can be a variety of competing emotions related to military life and parenthood. A simple visual, but one that reminds us that just because someone carries the load well, it doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy, and that we should never make assumptions. Unfortunately there is a very real stigma around showing vulnerability as a military family. Sadly, some within our community feel that they have to remain silent about the difficulties they’re experiencing or the overwhelm they may be feeling. We want to challenge that narrative, and strive for spaces where people can be honest, and receive compassion and understanding which is free of judgement or comparison. We need families in our community to know that it’s ok to feel these things, natural even, and that they are not alone. #militaryfamilies #militarylife #militaryparents #armyfamilies #navyfamilies #raffamilies #marinefamilies #parenthood #dandelionmilfamilies #challengethenarrative #honestconversations #perinatalmentalhealth #parentalmentalhealth #youarenotalone #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

An incredibly thorough and perceptive exploration of the challenges faced by military spouses. Recent remarks, particularly those from Rep. Scott Perry, underscore the relevance of this continued discussion and make it worth a read!

We've normalized treating military spouses as free labor. Meanwhile, we've done almost nothing to ease the challenges they face. In decades. Not only is this just wrong, but it masks the cost of war and readiness. If we had to pay for everything these people do supporting us, it would make some of the constant budgetary bleating a lot more legitimate. We need to be doing a lot better for military spouses. Along with it being wrong and misguided, taking advantage of them is creating a readiness risk that could hobble national defense. Without their families standing with them, our warriors will not have fighting hearts. If bureaucrats aren't going to fix any of this, they could at least have the decency to refrain from saying stupid and horrible things. Then again, we always learn when someone says the quiet part out loud. This is a situation long overdue for a political ruckus.
