We couldn't let Women's History Month pass by without recognizing the amazing Women of FORT Structures. In an industry that is still predominantly male, we see, value, and recognize the unique perspectives, accomplishments, and experiences of the women on our team. FORT's own Paula Wright, PE had this to say about being a woman in the engineering field: "There are many hurdles ahead for women in engineering. I compare those hurdles to the constant engineering challenge of pushing the boundaries for more efficient and eco-friendly designs. The beauty is in the process and in the endurance of climbing over the hurdles. Together, women in engineering, and women in FORT can accomplish anything." #womenshistorymonth #womeninengineering #structuralengineering

Title-Fragmented Memories IV Media-Oil on Celastic Size-33cm x 45cm Year-2023 Detail "Fragmented memories" is an ode to the timeless grace and strength of women, depicted as architects of community amidst illusioned architectural settings. Through fragmented compositions and geometric forms, I seek to convey the multifaceted nature of the feminine experience, celebrating its beauty and complexity. The classically poised figures exude a sense of power and resilience, while the angular shapes and dynamic compositions reflect the dynamism of women's roles in shaping society. Through this series, I aim to honor the transformative influence of women as builders and caretakers of community, inviting viewers to reflect on their profound contributions to culture and civilization.

Title-Fragmented Memories III Media-Oil on Celastic Size-33cm x 45cm Year-2023 Detail I explore the intrinsic connection between women and the architectural spaces they inhabit. By depicting women as poised figures within fragmented, geometric environments, I aim to convey the sense of empowerment and agency they possess in shaping their surroundings. The varying sizes and directions of the prismatic facets symbolize the diversity and complexity of women's experiences, while the angular shapes suggest strength and determination. Through this body of work, I hope to challenge preconceived notions of femininity and celebrate the profound influence women have as architects of community and culture.
