Today is #WorldMenopauseDay 💗 💥 30% of women become less active during menopause, which can negatively impact well-being. Staying active helps relieve uncomfortable symptoms and boost mental health. To help combat this dropout, Leicestershire Netball Development Officer (NDO) Megan Sayers saw an opportunity and launched a NETBALLHer pilot programme for women experiencing menopause in partnership with Active Together, Active Women Leicester City in the Community, Leicestershire County Netball Association and Sport England. 💬 Peer-led discussions facilitated by trained hosts cover essential menopause topics aiming to enhance the understanding of menopause, remove the stigma surrounding it, and empower them to talk about the topics confidently when needed. 🏐 Each classroom session is followed by a one-hour Walking Netball session, which has been hugely popular among the women, most of whom have no prior experience of netball so have been learning rules of the game while improving physical skills. Three England squads are ready to represent the red dress in a bumper autumn international calendar 🗓 🌹 Vitality Roses Head Coach Jess Thirlby has selected a team of 15 to face Jamaica in the brand-new Vitality Netball Horizon Series in November 2024. Staged on 16 and 17 November at the AO Arena in Manchester and then a reverse leg on 25 and 26 November at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, Jamaica, it’s set to be an incredible showcase of international netball between the world ranked two and four nations 🏟  🛩 A further ten athletes will travel to New Zealand to play in the FAST5 Netball World Series in Christchurch, New Zealand from 9-10 November whilst 12 athletes will form an England A squad to face Zimbabwe and Scotland behind closed doors on home soil.  📰 Hear from Jess Thirlby and Roses Pathway Head Coach Sonia Mkoloma and see all the details, including information on Vitality Netball Horizon Series tickets, here: https://lnkd.in/eJTg4_sC #Netball #VitalityRoses #InternationalSport  

Changing the world order 🌍 🆙 The Vitality Roses have overtaken New Zealand to rise to second in the latest World Netball rankings – only the third time England have broken into the top two since the introduction of the system in 2008! 💬 Discussing the update, Vitality Roses Head Coach Jess Thirlby said: “It’s taken a number of history-making results to be elevated into number two which tells us how hard it is to achieve this status. “While we know the margins are slim, especially between those nations in the top four, and no doubt there will continue to be a jostling of positions, we will pause to celebrate this moment and use this to drive us onto more success.” 📈 As the most played team sport for women in the UK and with a freshly relaunched elite domestic Netball Super League, netball continues to make moves and take the sport to new heights.
