Happy International Women’s Day! The blog I am sharing today celebrates the camaraderie and team work I witnessed recently while watching my granddaughter’s volleyball tournament. While the women in my life have an innumerable number of exceptional (and often superior) traits - I have chosen to discuss the power of strong friendships and community amongst women because I think it is a trait sorely lacking in our greater political landscape, especially amongst men. Share your thoughts below and celebrate international women’s day by paying women equally! #internationalwomensday2024 #teamwork #equalpay

More women playing football is a win, but true equality needs more. New efforts aim to get more girls involved, but will they have a real voice? Problems like harassment and unequal power between men and women need to be tackled to make it a welcoming space for everyone. Having more women in charge sounds good, but it's not that simple. While giving women leadership roles is a step forward, it only matters if they can actually change the status quo. We need to carefully examine these new ideas to make sure they truly benefit women in football. The ultimate goal is to create a sport where women have a fair shot and feel empowered to succeed. #WomensFootball #EqualityInSports

Today is International Women's Day. I was recently on a client call which was, bar one participant, entirely female. The comment was made just how rare that is in IT. Working for an almost entirely female company for the last 2.5 years I guess I'd forgotten what it was like to be the only 'girl' in the room, and how surprised people were when I spoke - rather coherently and persuasively - about technology. Or how hard it was to earn my place as not just a skilled marketing practitioner but also a trusted IT specialist. I always felt I had to work twice as hard, read three times more, prepare more thoroughly and defend my views flawlessly. There was never any room for error. Being writer comes with a fair dose of imposter syndrome. Writing for IT as a female? Multiply that to the power of 10. I feel so grateful though to have been a part of the 'transition' of this industry and to see the value that women in tech have brought, to tempering it with an additional dimension of insight, to infusing a kind of social consciousness and awareness, to being the women that we ourselves needed half a generation ago. I love my coterie of fabulous women, for their authenticity and fierce generosity of spirit. Cheers to them, and to all the other incredible women who are making waves, large and small wherever they are. 💫 #IWD2024 #WomenInTech #Empowerment #Equality #Inclusion

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion. We’re working with our clients to inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion and forge a world where women feel a sense of equality, belonging, relevance, and empowerment. When it comes to inclusion for women in sport, less than a third (30%) of UK ultrarunners are currently female, so this year Threshold Sports set an ambition to achieve at least 50% female participation across their ultra marathons in 2024, and beyond. Their Ultra 50:50 initiative endeavours to achieve gender parity and set new industry standards to empower and enable women to take part in events at the toughest end of the running distance spectrum. This mission sees Threshold Sports partner with SheRaces who have conducted in-depth research on women’s experiences in racing and used this insight to develop the first set of guidelines for race organisers, which were adopted by Threshold last year.
