Stepping out of my comfort zone and into an inspiring session with Lenny Lin, Business Development Manager at ASUS Malaysia! 👍 On September 4th, I had the opportunity to attend an engaging talk by Lenny Lin, where he shared his incredible journey and the importance of adaptability in today’s fast-paced world. His insights on how stepping outside our comfort zones can unlock new opportunities really resonated with me. What made the talk so captivating was the blend of practical strategies and real-life examples. Lenny gave us a deep dive into how ASUS approaches business development and market expansion, revealing some of the key tactics that have driven their success. And, honestly, the session was so interesting and fun, I barely touched my phone—except to snap this picture! 📸 Takeaways: ✅ Adaptability is key in an ever-evolving business landscape. ✅ Growth happens outside your comfort zone. ✅ Stay curious and open to new opportunities! It's been 5 years, with about 2 years of Covid-19 in between, that's how we calculate it. Relentless pursuit to build a Malaysia EV brand, many things are much clearer to us now than ever before. Policies and incentives setting into place, timed with our improved capability to build better and 'closer to I.C.E.' products/solutions, many things are ready. This post is about linking up with common-vision investors, to share what we can do from here on (and not to those who demand numbers so they can make more numbers). It's a bit blunt but for all intents and purposes, this only applies to what we do, currently Electric-2-Wheelers (E2W) and our bespoke develop-to-market strengths from product feasibility concept to homologation. Congratulations to AEON for taking the bold step towards net zero. I wrote before on how Mydin has encouraged me to shop there while waiting for my car to be charged and how these EV Chargers can attract a different market segment to your hyper mall. Looks like other mall operators will follow suit. Mall charging should be the second most popular destination charging, with first being the high-rise apartment. I call upon the Local Cities to allow for these malls and apartments to be equipped with EV chargers without having to go through your approval (Kebenaran Merancang, or Permit Binaan Sementara or Permit Pindaan). All these approval and permits require time and money ( to pay consultant , for example, for the drawings and submission) You would see the charger projects being deployed at a much faster rate if these malls and apartments are excluded from having to go through the local city council's approval. License from Suruhanjaya Tenaga will be sufficient to govern the safety of these chargers.

America’s tiff with China (let’s hope it doesn’t go beyond that) saw some winners.  One of them was my hometown of Penang, which started its journey in semiconductors in the 60s with former Chief Minister Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu. Penang’s maturity in the space (a tasty 5% of global semiconductor exports in 2019) made us a likely home for multinationals like Intel Corporation, which have been hedging their bets and building factories outside of China in case the spat escalates. Last year, we (cheh .. ‘we’, lol) drew $12.8 billion in FDI, more than the total attracted between 2013-2020 combined, led by Intel ($7 billion) and Infineon Technologies ($5.4 billion). That’s a lot of money incoming. And a lot of demand for engineers, to meet the demand.  Which has become a problem, since we don’t have enough existing supply, nor the pipeline to meet it. Enter Dato’ Seri SH Wong, President of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association, to explain the Whys and Wherefores of the predicament. And more importantly, a short-, middle- and long-term solution to the dilemma.
