Also - 4. Communicating your solution is sometimes more important than the solution itself: If no one can understand your solution, then i) it won’t gain traction and ii) your solution will never improve (and your solution can always improve :))
My Consulting Journey as an Ex-Engineer After 23 months of experience in tech, I was unsure if I had what it takes to thrive in consulting - one of the most competitive industries out there. But my summer internship at Accenture Strategy & Consulting IMU as a Strategy Analyst has been an incredible rollercoaster, with each day bringing new learning opportunities. Here are some key takeaways (specifically for engineers looking to make the switch): 1. A quick solution outweighs a perfect one (sometimes): We engineers, often tend to prioritise precision. However, consulting has taught me the importance of balancing speed with effectiveness. 2. Keep it simple, silly: Complex data models and intricate ML algorithms aren't always necessary. Simple and scalable approaches often yield the best results. The real challenge lies in making the most of your insights, not just generating them. 3. Proactive v/s Reactive: In the consulting world, being prompt is everything. Whether it's following up on small tasks or leveraging client relationships to expedite processes, getting the work done is the name of the game. I would like to thank Swapneela Biswas, Antariksha Ganguly, Pallavi Saboo, and Sakshi Adenwala for giving me this opportunity and guiding me throughout the way !

Award-Winning Student Leader | First-Gen | Vision Leader | NABA | ODK | Eager to Bring Innovative and Analytical Skills to the Field of Accounting
Long story short, I DID THAT! 😏 No way I completed my Spring semester with a 4.0! 😆 While working my internship up to 30 hours weekly, this semester I took 6 classes, held multiple leadership positions across 3 organizations, volunteered, and still found time for self-care… not much, but I still fit it in where I could. I also navigated scenarios that challenged my personal development and identified areas that I would like to focus on for professional growth. A few things that I learned this semester: ✨ Time management and organization truly are the keys to being successful in multi-tasking and managing various projects at once. I owe my success this semester to Microsoft Excel and Google Calendar. ✨ To have support is to have success. None of this would be possible without the support that I have, especially from my mom. ✨ Self-advocacy. This journey looks different for each of us, but if there is something that you believe in, stand on it. Utilize ALL of your resources to be sure you are getting what you want and NEED from all of the tuition you’re paying. ✨ Exploration. Learning. Development. You will be introduced to many different things. Be sure to take advantage of every opportunity you can afford and entertain the things that propel you to reach your goals. Use this exploration period to learn more about yourself and identify areas where you can develop or use your strengths and interests to make an impact in this world. I want to thank a few people who have helped me be great this semester: MY MOMMY FOR SURE 💚, Cait Burns, Dr. Nicholas (Nick) Williams, Erin Lee Henshaw, Amy Leahy Shutts, Alfonso Amanecer and #TRiO, and my #NABA family. I’m counting down the days until I start my summer role as a Capital Markets and Accounting Services intern at PwC. I’m excited to explore the life of a Business Analyst and learn more about the consulting world! #success #timemanagement #organization #service #firstgen #excel #google #motivation #exploration #learning #development #leadership #vcu #trio #naba #pwc #cmaas #businessanalyst #consulting

I remember the first time giving a speech of this scale was in my senior year of college, sharing my internship and job-seeking experiences in China with students at Taipei University. Five years later, now officially working in the finance industry as a software product manager, I held another online sharing session to reflect on my experiences. For a pure software product manager, the finance industry is both brilliant and mysterious. Two key learnings I gained while working in finance industry: 1. Product Thinking: Besides the unchanging truth of "customer experience," understanding how to integrate competitor dynamics within strict financial regulations, tailoring products to fit local Taiwanese financial norms, has helped refine my approach. 2.Cross-functional Communication: Collaborating with not just design and tech teams but also front-line business, external vendors, conducting interviews, and establishing processes can enhance the integrity of product planning. Through this sharing session, my aim is to reduce the uncertainties and doubts for those outside the finance industry, encouraging them to embrace the trend of financial technology integration and find their ideal positions. Looking forward to meeting everyone online again next time!

I’m pleased to share that I recently completed an internship with Morph Management in Boston, where I had the opportunity to work with their marketing operations team. During my time there, I focused primarily on Verizon, my client, and took on several key responsibilities: Competitor Analysis: Conducted in-depth competitor analysis to help Verizon refine its market positioning and develop strategic improvements. Data Analysis & Strategy Development: Utilized tools like Google Analytics and Power BI to analyze customer data, uncover insights, and develop strategies for higher market penetration and enhanced marketing effectiveness. Customer Data Management: Worked on optimizing service quality and reducing waste by effectively managing and analyzing customer data. Waste Management Program: Contributed to developing a waste management program within the operations department. Used Microsoft Project to streamline processes, create efficient critical paths, and enhance overall workflow. Industry Research: Conducted research on industry trends to ensure that marketing strategies were aligned with the latest market developments. This internship has been an invaluable learning experience, enhancing my skills in data analysis, strategic planning, and process optimization. I want to extend my gratitude to the Morph Management team for their support and mentorship. I am also deeply grateful to Krish Zaver for his unwavering support throughout my internship. His guidance and encouragement were instrumental in my professional growth. I’m excited to apply these skills in future opportunities and continue driving impactful operational strategies. #OperationsManagement #ProcessOptimization #DataAnalysis #WasteReduction #StrategicPlanning #ProjectManagement #OperationalExcellence #CustomerData #Efficiency #IndustryTrends

Calling all summer interns in finance/ consulting/ accounting. Here are 3 things you want to be doing so you can convert your internship to a full time offer: 1. Dress well. Look and dress the part, even when you're working from home and needing to turn on your camera, and especially when you are in office. 2. Find out who is on the panel of people that advocate for you to get the full time offer. This is most likely going to be the analysts, staff, or senior you work most closely with. 3. Check your ego. Nothing is below you. Help out with the DoorDash orders for lunch and dinner, and do it with a smile. PS: Thank you to Justin Lee, a buddy of mine who is a data scientist at Amazon, for the first 2 pieces of advice. Your Coach, Vincent

⬅️ S T R E T C H Y O U R S E L F ➡️ It’s intern season again, and this year brings not only a new class of interns, but at Consumers Energy we welcomed a new VP and are said goodbye to our outgoing VP. Our interns are at the very start of their careers, while our new VP is a seasoned veteran with many years of experience. More radically, our outgoing VP is leaving corporate America behind for the classroom. They all have one thing in common: they are stretching themselves by taking on an entirely new and different experience. Taking on a new experience – whether it’s an enormous career change, taking on a new project, or simply taking a new route on your evening walk with the dog – brings a range of emotions: excitement, thrills, anticipation, discomfort, fear, or even the occasional “what the hell did I just do” moment. Trying something new, big or small, has brain benefits: increases dopamine, boosts confidence, increases mindfulness, and helps diminish negative thoughts and emotions. Those new experiences, even with the flubs, failures, and learnings along the way will stretch your mind in a new way. And once you’ve stretched your mind, that experience will forever change you. When is the last time you tried something new? I’d love to hear about your experience. Reference and great read: https://lnkd.in/eyAnmeHi Image credit: Lila Lazarus
