The Atlantic Project Awards feature outstanding initiatives, successful collaborations and achievements relevant to the implementation of the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0. These projects have taken place within the EU Atlantic Action Plan member states over the past years and showcase success stories, best practices and partnership models that could be scaled up at the regional, national, European or international level, while promoting the key priorities of the Atlantic Strategy. The Awards are organised by the Atlantic Strategy Committee, supported by the Atlantic Assistance Mechanism. In the final two weeks of my participation in the Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program (AIFP), I had the opportunity to work with the project finance team Gide Loyrette Nouel Under the guidance of Célia Alao I gained valuable, hands-on experience with EPC contracts and Independent Power Projects (IPPs). This practical learning experience has greatly enhanced my understanding of infrastructure development and will undoubtedly be instrumental in my future work.

This morning, I attended the annual meeting of WAPPP (WAPPP.org), a now 6 y.o. global scale NGO developing practical, proven models and means for public-private partnerships. There are now several hundred active projects - frequently infrastructure and facilities and their operations. Increasingly these are of relatively small scale, competently planned and closely focused. An important ingredient in small scale PPPs can be control of transaction costs by sharing with larger projects, or among multiple small projects. I have seldom encountered a more resourceful, steady, productive group of mainly volunteers as this. For me, WAPPP adds another chapter to the facility management story. Give it a look?
