Knowing how to summarize your career is a skill! I know, 5+ years of experience is a lot and you want to include EVERY detail to showcase all your expertise. BUT. ALL your experience is not relevant to that job. If your resume is 7 pages long, the RELEVANT experience will get LOST. SO. Keep it short. Two pages max. Include ONLY what's relevant to THAT JOB you are applying for.

🗣Don't let the number of applicants deter you from pursuing your dream job It's not uncommon to see job postings with hundreds of applicants, but here's a little secret: from my experience, a significant portion of those applicants might not even meet the qualifications or be located where the job is offered. So, if you have the skills, qualifications, and genuinely believe you'd be a great fit for the role, don't hesitate to apply! After all, you'll never know unless you take the opportunity. Your unique talents and experiences could be exactly what the employer is looking for. Remember, it's not about being the most qualified candidate; it's about being the right fit. Question?? How are you supposed to gain hands-on job experience if no one is willing to hire you because of the lack thereof? I can do the job; just give me the chance to prove to you that you made the right decision to hire me.

"We're building something the world has never seen" 🚀🚀🚀 Moments later in the same job post... "Requires three years of specialized experience (in new technology we started building two years ago.)" 🤔🤔🤔 ============== Hey, I get it. You're building something really cool. I'm not cool. Message received. Buuuuut... it would seem I'm better at basic math. 😆 We've all seen these job descriptions (and yes, this one is real), but that's not really my point. Here's the point: OFFER TRAINING TO YOUR EMPLOYEES! 👨🎓 Here's how you make that job description better: 🔹Describe the adjacent skills and experience required. 🔹Describe the type of people who thrive in your organization. 🔹Describe the competencies required to learn this new technology (e.g., background in engineering, etc.). 🔹Explain that you offer training to every new hire, teaching them your new technology. This is how you find and attract top talent. This is an expression of values in action.🏅 Remember the job description I described above? Think about their applicant pool. It's largely made up of deceivers, who fudged their experience to meet the bizarre application requirements. Values aren't just inspirational words you plaster on the wall. It's how you think, act, hire, train, promote, and review performance. So many companies showcase their lack of values right at the gate: The job application. As always, Stay humble. Hang tough.
