Transforming Challenges into Opportunities: The Waste-to-Wealth initiative Here at Covenant University, in our EDS 811 (Entrepreneurial Development Studies) class, first-year Masters students have been tasked to come up with a sustainable solution to a problem being faced in our country. Together with my teammates, the Waste-to-Wealth initiative was birthed in response to the growing issue of waste management in our country. An innovative solution that focuses on repurposing waste materials to create valuable resources. Special thanks to Covenant University Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies and our EDS coordinators Oluwakemi Onayemi (PhD) and Prof. Chinoye Love Moses for providing this opportunity and the space to come up with an innovative idea and for their sound guidance and to my teammates Chibuikem Obioha, Oluwasijibomi Oluwole, Ololade Babafemi, Adekunle Adekunmisi, Adebisi Adedimeji, Oseribhor Abhulimen, Princess Bassey, Oluwatimilehin Ajayi, and Ogundele ayomide for the chance to collaborate on this great idea!

My hope for the future of NZ private capital markets...... But first, the challenge - accessing capital for green initiatives is a huge hurdle for business & entire industries. The Aotearoa Circle brought together leaders of banks, govt and agri, tourism and seafood to discuss enhancing access to capital for climate change adaption and nature restoration. See the useful interactive map developed (link below). Back to my hope for the future of NZ private capital markets... What I want: (1) sources of private capital to not be dwarfed by philanthropic sources (like they are in this map) (2) KiwiSaver providers to be a reliable go-to source of private capital to solve green challenges (and embedded in maps like this one!) In financial services we have lots of work to do to deliver KiwiSaver as a source of private capital at scale. Who's on board to help make it happen .... ??? The interactive map is available here: https://lnkd.in/gF_wv_Fd Vicki Watson Lily Richards Ana Dermer Simon Leach Bryony Greenhalgh #ethicalinvesting #venturecapital #sustainablefinance

We’ve had some fantastic news: Rotor DC is now an officially recognized cooperative company and part of the Belgian National Cooperation Council! This accreditation from the Ministry of Economy shows that Rotor DC complies with the values and principles of cooperative entrepreneurship, such as: a non-speculative purpose, a capital held by workers/members, and a democratic general assembly. This has been the case from the very beginning, but now it’s in a ministerial decree! The cooperative movement got its start during the Industrial Revolution. The original goal was to create opportunities for people to escape from poverty and exploitation, and it quickly became a fertile ground for innovations. Just think of credit unions, consumer cooperatives, agricultural co-ops, mutual insurance, and so on. Since then, the model proved to be relevant for other lines of action too – environmental or cultural issues for example. In Belgium, despite a decline over the past few decades, we still count 19.000 cooperative companies. Together, they represent 3% of the GDP, which is impressive! We’re proud to be part of them. And in Brussels we are not the only ones walking that path. Look at Sonian Wood Coop, DESIGN WITH SENSE, BC materials, urbike, BEES Coop, Médor - SCRL-FS – to name just a few. Let’s see if we can invert the trend in the coming years! Source for the statistics: Coop Monitor 2021 - Exploring the Belgian Cooperative Economy (2011-2020), KUL & Ceraa
