Meet Marleny Lopez, Senior Manager, Electric Consulting! "I've been with ENTRUST for almost 5 years. I was hired as a Consultant within our Electric Analysis and Consulting department. Although we were supporting a lot of customers with a focus on Transmission, I was the second person hired to support our growing needs within the distribution side. Within two years, the team started growing and I became the Manager. Recently, I was promoted to Senior Manager. I was the first from my immediate family to attend college in the United States. We are immigrants from the Dominican Republic, so exploring career options was challenging. I initially pursued computer engineering but realized I enjoyed hands-on work with computers and switched to electrical engineering. My first internship at a utility company in their distribution planning department made me love the technical and field aspects. For over 20 years, I’ve loved my career, and I’m grateful for the 'I like computers' mistake that led me down this path. Working at ENTRUST has shown me that the impossible is truly possible. I always said I didn't see myself in a leadership position because my kids keep me busy, but that has not been the case at ENTRUST. Early in my career, the CEO reached out to see how he could support my success, which was a pivotal moment for me. Participating in the LED program and overcoming a challenging hike in Las Vegas with the support of my coworkers was one of the best experiences of my life. I've also had the great opportunity of having a long-term mentor through the SPARK mentorship program, which has been invaluable. My team was one of the fastest-growing teams within ENTRUST. In 2022, it was only five of us in the distribution part of our consulting team, and now we have over 10 managers at different levels. As we continue to grow, we need to hire individuals whose vision, experience, and culture align with the company. I believe in giving back. If it weren’t for the people who helped me throughout my career, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m part of the ENrichment program Steering Committee and became a mentor in the SPARK program. On a more personal note, family is extremely important to me. I have three kids: a 19-year-old daughter in college for musical theater, a 16-year-old daughter who wants to become a doctor, and a 13-year-old son in performing arts. My nephew, who’s like my other son, is 26, and I have a mini-Shih Tzu named Pepper. Traveling with my parents and kids is one of my cherished activities. Thanks to ENTRUST’s flexibility, I’ve traveled to places like St. Maarten, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. My parents have even created a fun song and dance routine, 'De Aqui no me saca nadie' (Nobody can get me out of here), which our friends and family look forward to seeing at every new place we visit."
