I am running for City Council to bring people together to solve our common challenges. I’ll be a champion for neighborhoods and help Mayor Mahan complete his Back to Basics plan to make San José safe, clean and vibrant for every neighbor. What does that look like? Here’s where I’ll start: Tackling the homelessness crisis with proven solutions, like building affordable modular housing where it makes sense and providing mental health services. Making our neighborhoods safe by hiring more police officers, while embracing evidence-based crime-reduction strategies, like job training and drug treatment. Fostering economic development and opportunity by revitalizing neighborhood business districts and stimulating high wage job creation.

Creating The Future of Entertainment Sustainability | Historically Accurate Educational Experience Park | Helping Legends CRE8 Eternity | Haunted Texas Theme Park Destination Resort & Convention Center
👻 Ever had a moment where you felt unseen, like the sole person at the end of a long boardroom table in a sea of indifferent faces? That was me when I was unexpectedly dropped from a #LinkedInLive event while discussing "Haunted Texas." The attached picture speaks a thousand words about how it felt. I had hoped to bring the rich tapestry of Texas's haunted history to light—tying local legends to real-life historical sites. It's a project with the potential to weave together narratives that foster community and drive economic development. 🏚️💼 Some say this could possibly be like #Disney1923? 🤔 I'm looking to employ 2000 people in Williamson County, and with your expertise in #businesscontinuity and #operations, I believe we could be formidable allies. 🤝 I understand my approach may not align with every platform, but I’d appreciate if you could share what aspect of my call wasn't a fit. Let's connect and possibly open doors to a new chapter where history meets opportunity, fostering #growth and #community. 🌟 I make more traction in real life than I do on social media. It seems like real is always getting snuffed and fake is glorified on these platforms. I pride myself on being a #hopedealer in real life and the payment that’s ALWAYS enough for me are the lives I impact along the way. 💯 #HauntedTexas #Networking #EconomicDevelopment #BusinessGrowth #Inclusion #CommunityBuilding

What we need is not more DEI initiatives… 8 years ago, I could never have imagined staying in this community. 🚩 Didn’t know anyone. 🚩 Stuck out like a sore thumb. 🚩 Dealt with my own fair share of discrimination. But somehow, I stayed. Ten years later, I’m still here and proudly choosing to! Communities don’t develop themselves—people develop communities. When people become intentional about each other, we end up with a place more people desire to be a part of. At our core, we desire to connect but don’t always know how. 🚩 Caution, fear, uncertainty are some of the words that limit our ability to connect with one another. ✅ Awareness, exposure, openness, vulnerability are words that bring people together and help us grow relationships. In my experience, developing real working relationships and feeling like I belong only took a matter of landing in a work environment where I began to encounter the right group of people. They did not know it all but they treated me like I was them. That is very easily what kept me in this community until I found a bigger purpose—helping the people in our community and workforce connect and develop real relationships. Every 4-6 weeks, I along with other amazing facilitators spend a full day teaching cultural competency. It’s been a wild ride and it only gets better. Springfield is well positioned for this. culturalcompetency-utp.com #culturalcompetency #community #workforcedevelopment #springfieldmo #southwestmissouri

Young people today have lost the opportunity to grow up in a neighborhood where they can roam freely and build lasting connections. Working parents, caught up in long work hours, find it challenging to supervise their children playing outside and interacting with neighbors. As a result, many kids end up isolated in their rooms, glued to their phones, behind closed garage doors. In the past, leaving garage doors open symbolized a sense of community and trust. Children thrived in these environments, learning valuable lessons on friendship, respect, and navigating the world around them. It's time to revive these connected communities and empower our youth to become change-makers. By launching youth-led initiatives that inspire citywide transformations, we can reclaim the sense of togetherness and safety that we've gradually let slip away. Let's work together to create a future where neighborhoods are vibrant, supportive, and filled with opportunities for our young people to grow and thrive. #CommunityBuilding #YouthEmpowerment #NeighborhoodTransformation #loveyourcity

Ever met one of those inspiringly really well-connected people? Yep, we just thought of the same person. It seems everyone in the #Baltimore metro area (and far beyond) knows Marco V. Ávila, P.E. He has like 836712 jobs in various roles. He’s the energized bunny wrapped up as a magnetic Hispanic George Clooney. My brain is swirling with ideas after spending a few happy hours together, talking about business, volunteering, vision, funding, travel, life and even drawing. Meaningful #networking is so essential in business to open doors, to keep learning, and to surround yourself with people that inspire you with the amazing things they’ve done… especially when they’re #neverdone. Thanks, Marco, for a fabulous evening that will make me run faster. Let’s go make it happen. 👏

Our goal with the "Buy & Build Back Your Block" initiative is to raise the bar collectively and accelerate the pace of change within commercial real estate. Who's in?
Crains New York Business put out an article earlier this year on The Families Behind the Most Recognizable Buildings in New York. Highlights suggest New York is real estate, and the foundation of that real estate is in many cases families. Those cited with influence on the streetscape and how the city runs include the Dursts, Kushners, Silversteins and Goldman’s — but it got me thinking. Why Not Mine? Why Not Yours? Tasking our most influential BIPOC Professionals, Artists, Athletes & Entertainers to consider an investment alternative...buy back your old block! NYC and nationwide. Stay tuned for pending economic & community development initiatives by PRI-O-LEAU Development Group (PDG)

Community Engagement 💙 What an absolute love of mine. I often tell people that I practice "old school" engagement--that good ole fashion grassroot "stuff." When I conduct presentations or engage community partners and community members in dialogue, I put humanity first. I generously apply the core principles of Public Health which uplift and empower community. Whom ever I engage, I speak to them like they are my sister, brother, grandmother, or friend. I give us both the space to be ourselves. My form of practiced engagement is the art of sharing space and the human experience. Laughs, smiles, heard, and seen, these are the outcomes I strive for. Today, I conducted a presentation that reminded me of my strength and my family's tenacious origin. I stood in my power and served my community. For me, as a community engagement consultant, one of the most rewarding experiences is the thunderous applause after a presentation. Moments like today remind me why I love community. We, as a community, are stronger than we know. #communityminded #upwardjournery
