*Stakeholders in One Health Implementation: Understanding Their Roles* The One Health approach recognizes that human, animal, and environmental health are interconnected. Successful implementation requires collaboration among various stakeholders. Let's explore the key stakeholders and their roles: *1. Healthcare Professionals*: Diagnose and treat human patients, provide public health expertise, and implement infection control measures. *2. Veterinarians*: Care for animals, diagnose and control animal diseases, and provide expertise on animal health and welfare. *3. Environmental Scientists*: Monitor and manage environmental factors affecting health, such as water and air quality, and implement sustainable practices. *4. Public Health Officials*: Develop and implement policies, programs, and surveillance systems to protect human health. *5. Animal Health Officials*: Develop and implement policies, programs, and surveillance systems to protect animal health. *6. Community Leaders*: Engage with local communities, promote One Health principles, and facilitate collaboration. *7. Researchers*: Conduct interdisciplinary research to better understand the intersections between human, animal, and environmental health. *8. Policymakers*: Develop and implement policies that support One Health initiatives and allocate resources. *9. International Organizations*: Provide funding, technical assistance, and coordination support for global One Health efforts. *10. Local Communities*: Adopt One Health practices, provide feedback, and participate in decision-making processes. Understanding the roles of these stakeholders is crucial for effective One Health implementation. Let's work together to achieve better health outcomes for all! #OneHealth #Stakeholders #Collaboration #Health #Wellbeing #Sustainability

Talking about One Health, it is very clear that it is not a question of what we should do but rather HOW we should do it. The concept is globally accepted as the surest strategy to curb and prevent human and animal pandemics. At the #WOHC2024 meeting with four International Development Research Centre (IDRC) funded One Health project teams in Cape Town, I suggested that the teams should start advocating for governments to seriously consider forming One Health Minitries. This followed their common observations that operationalising the #OneHealth concept is a challenge due to factors such as huge disparities in sectorial resource allocation at government level. I totally agree with a speaker that chimed “It is not One Health until is it One Health One Budget” Without radical changes, it will largely remain just a good concept.

Veterinary Surgeon at Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic. British Equine Veterinary Association President Elect and Chair of Ethics and Welfare
https://lnkd.in/ettCBXDX Well done Mr Nuttall. I'm proud to be a small part of a great collaborative multi-organisation working group called Suitably Mounted - charged with tackling the highly emotive topic of mismatching horse/pony/donkey and rider/load combinations. Viewed with much skepticism our group continues to work out what evidence we have around this area, what knowledge gaps need filling and how we can actually go ahead and fill them. Professionals representing social science, veterinary medicine, animal welfare research, welfare organisations, mental health professionals, the equestrian industry including National Show organisers are among some of those who contribute to work in this group. We mostly work in the background, but are collectively united by a common theme - a passion for championing equine wellbeing and equestrian sport and leisure with an evidence based approach. Critically, not one of us is afraid to confront big, scary, and hugely controversial topics. Rider weight is one of them. We believe that there is a way in which we can collectively unite to put our equines wellbeing first with kindness and empathy to every human involved in equestrianism. Today I had this article pop up on my feed which provided just this. Bravo, Mr Nuttall, bravo.

𝐀𝐁𝐓𝐂 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐃𝐄𝐈) 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 – 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 The ABTC is committed to improving diversity, equity, and inclusivity within our own organisation, and throughout the animal welfare and training sphere. That’s why we have launched a survey to gather demographic information and insights into registered ABTC practitioners and those working towards their full member status (e.g., student, provisional, etc). The data will help us assess the current situation and identify areas of focus. Having identified trends and patterns, the data gathered will be shared with ABTC member organisations and practitioners to develop an action plan to better support our ABTC practitioners. The survey has been designed to retain your anonymity, and participants can withdraw at any point during the survey. Data from the survey will be kept for 5 years to allow a comparison for future data collection. We welcome all ABTC registered practitioners to complete this survey which can be accessed via the link https://lnkd.in/eHUQKGfd If you have any questions about the ABTC DEI Survey, please contact info@abtc.org.uk We thank you in advance for all your support with this request for participation. Great news out of NSW, with the Parliament passing a bill to outlaw the forced swim test and forced smoke inhalation - two unnecessary and unjustifiable procedures used on mice and rats in research. - The forced swim test is a widely criticised experimental procedure in which rodents, typically mice or rats, are placed in an inescapable container filled with water, forcing them to swim until they become exhausted or exhibit signs of helplessness and despair. - The nasal smoke inhalation experiment involves restraining rodents to expose them to inhaled substances, such as smoke, by delivering it directly to their nose or head. - Both of these 'tests' cause suffering and distress, and the RSPCA has long called for more humane methods of conducting this research. A big thanks to everyone, including our colleagues at RSPCA NSW, for their hard work in getting this world-first piece of legislation over the line. https://lnkd.in/eq7Puwxs
