Florida’s stunning rivers, lakes, and coastal waters are facing unprecedented challenges from population growth, water quality issues, and climate change. Passed in 2021, SB 64 aims to transform how the state manages and reuses water by making significant changes to the disposal of domestic wastewater. Senior Environmental Scientist Lindsay Cross details key elements of this legislation, and how ESA can help clients achieve sustainable water management in this evolving landscape of wastewater management. Prof Shola Ololade – all about innovative and practical solutions for water conservation Prof Shola Ololade, Acting Director of the Centre for Environmental Management, states that it is not enough to only have access to sufficient water, but that the quality of water is also important. “Often, people do gain access to water, but the quality is not good enough, and eventually, it makes them sick. The right of the people is to be provided with good quality water.” “Water is valuable. Without water, humans cannot survive. It is important to use water wisely, to protect our water resources, and to reduce the impact of climate change on our water resources.” Read more: https://ufsweb.co/4aa3703 #WorldWaterDay2024 | #WorldWaterDay | #WaterAction

😍 I'm so glad to see funding for these types of projects! Now is a great time to transition into #Sustainability in all the ways! "Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it." The funding goes toward two major initiatives: 🚚 1. Clean Corridor Coalition (led by New Jersey): infrastructure to support zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles (this is not passenger cars) along I-95 🌳 🐸 2. Climate Pollution Reduction Grants Atlantic Conservation Coalition (led by North Carolina): natural carbon sequestration through improved forest management, agroforestry, and the protection and restoration of highly threatened, high-carbon coastal habitats and forests
Governor Moore announced $130 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that will help Maryland become one of the greenest states in the nation and support the creation of thousands of new green jobs. The grants will also support workforce training for local workers on emerging charging technology to make Maryland more competitive in electrifying the transportation sector. Senior Vice President Sales & Sales Operations | Scaling Start-Up & Early-Stage Companies | Elevating Organizational Performance & Expanding Markets
Government investment in carbon mitigation and reduction solutions and technologies is critical to allow companies to scale. To meet the Paris Agreement goals, investments from all levels of government alongside private investment will be required to help companies develop the technologies required to achieve the goals of reducing carbon emissions and carbon removal. Maryland took a step in that direction by announcing a $130 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants, through the EPA. https://lnkd.in/d83AV92N

Currently, the United States is facing an escalating environmental crisis, as the risk of wildfires is intensifying and in turn causing an increase in pollution. These environmental challenges are reshaping the nation's landscape and posing a significant threat to public health. Historically, the United States has tackled wildfires through a combination of prevention, monitoring, and management methods. This includes ignition management, technological advancements, and the Clean Air Act (CAA). Yet, due to the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires increased support is needed.
