I am excited to announce the latest pre-print on bioRxiv from the Millman lab! It happens to be my first ever first-author manuscript as well. In this study, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing on human cadaveric islets treated with Coxsackievirus B (CVB) and poly(I:C), a viral mimic, to delineate the transcriptional response induced by the various cell types. We find that although the virus infects all cell types at similar rates, it induces unique, cell-type specific transcriptional responses. We also report on the effects of CVB on mitochondria in beta and alpha cells and identify MIR7-3HG as a potential antiviral therapeutic target. Give it a read!! https://lnkd.in/eTc7ds5B
