Looking back at three invaluable days at #PPMD2024! It was a busy and inspiring few days filled with thoughtful discussions and useful insights. Did you know that about 1 in 5,000 boys is affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, with around 20,000 new cases globally each year? Duchenne mostly affects boys and reaches across all races and cultures. Post-#PPMD2024, our team has highlighted some key takeaways: 🔬 There were a lot of insightful discussions about clinical trials. Panelists agreed that safety should be a top priority when planning and conducting future trials. 👩 Increased focus on supporting and treating manifesting female carriers. ✈️Logistics and travel accommodation remain significant challenges for patients, highlighting the need to reduce the frequency of on-site visits by incorporating remote assessments. 💻 In the future, AI can improve clinical trial design by analyzing large-scale data, uncovering insights not possible with traditional biostatistics alone. Exciting News! Ultromics, an AI-driven health tech company from Oxford, has teamed up with Pfizer to validate its EchoGo® Amyloidosis algorithm for detecting cardiac amyloidosis. This breakthrough technology, leveraging deep learning on routine ultrasound scans, aims to identify the disease early, crucial for optimal treatment. Cardiac #amyloidosis results from the accumulation of abnormal proteins within the heart, impairing its ability to pump blood.
