What’s #DeloitteDigital Creative Director Shamel Washington’s top advice for fellow jurors heading into the #CannesLions2024 deliberation room? 📣“Advocate for the work you truly believe deserves recognition because it can change someone’s life.” Washington, a 2024 Pharma Lions juror, shared thoughts about his upcoming judging duties with SHOOT Magazine / SHOOTonline : Q: What have you learned from your prior experience at Cannes that you will apply to this year's tour of duty? ✅ That no matter how much time you are spending reviewing a piece of work, keep in mind that the creators spent so much more time creating it. Q: What’s the appeal of serving on the Pharma Lions Jury? ✅ We are in the midst of a creative renaissance in the pharma field. Campaigns are getting bolder and the skill level is on par with any other category in the field. Q: What’s your take on the value of the in-person jury room dynamic? ✅ I love hearing how other jurors perceive work and how it aligns (or clashes) with my perception. Q: How does judging a competition like this inform you and your agency? ✅ It furthers my appreciation for the process of getting an idea to the award show level. We must always find new and innovative ways to keep jurors engaged and break through the clutter. Read Washington’s full interview in SHOOT Online ➡️ https://deloi.tt/4ebO2h6 See you soon at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity!

One of my many highlights from Cannes Lions last week was sitting down with Pat Burke from Roundel (Target’s retail media network) to chat retail media at Sport Beach. He shared thoughts on important things for brands to consider when choosing a retail media network and how brands can leverage retail media for full-funnel opportunities. #retailmediainnovation #canneslions2024
Last week, Roundel’s Pat Burke stopped by the Sport Beach Content Studio at Cannes Lions for an insightful conversation with Kristin Woxland with Colle McVoy. Check out the link to learn more about Roundel’s full funnel solutions, key differentiators and the benefits of our One Target approach. https://lnkd.in/gUu4Mj4v

“Numbers don’t lie, check the scoreboard” - Jay-Z Through all the noise of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity I became fixated on the Creative Effectiveness category of the awards. As it says on the Cannes Lions website: “THE CREATIVE EFFECTIVENESS LIONS CELEBRATE THE MEASURABLE IMPACT OF CREATIVE WORK.” Measurable impact. Hmm. Now, if you’re a big boy like Heinz or Spotify, it’s unnaturally easy to measure the impact of your creative work that reaches millions around the world. It’s also easy to win big at the awards. So in anticipation of someday winning a Creative Effectiveness Lion, we’ve started giving our little guy (Pebla) the big boy treatment. We’re measuring. & celebrating. We did good with a $40 budget (we actually spent $34). We only promoted the campaign on LinkedIn because we can’t afford the press just yet. But still, we scored an Ads of the World front page feature. This is work that works. The ROI is insane. There’s a lot more creative work on the way. But somehow, it’s not the creativity I’m looking forward to. It’s the impact. & the measure thereof. & then obviously the damn award. Here’s some more numbers for you: Out of 302 entries into the Creative Effectiveness category this year: 1 grandprix 2 gold 5 silver 7 bronze 20 shortlist 267 unawarded We’ve got a long way to go. But we’re on our way. David Masoperh Tuyishimire Neza David Christopher Kuzagbe

Kicking off our '3-0 with our Jury' series, we've got the scoop straight from the source—our Jury member Ana Milas, dishes out her take on the creative world's evolution, her top ad picks, and how to keep the party popping. 🥂 Here's what she had to say: What's your secret to keeping the energy up at a party? 🥳 "Plugging into the AUX and curating your own vibe." And when it comes to drinks, it's a "London Mule followed by a water chaser" because staying hydrated is key, queens! What has changed for the better in the last 30 years? 3️⃣0️⃣ "The way brands connect with the audiences has completely transformed. They've dropped the stiff, impersonal voice and become more relatable. On top of that, the global reach of the internet has supercharged creativity. Now, even smaller agencies and independent creators can compete with the big advertisers with massive budgets, making the advertising landscape way more exciting." As a festival, we celebrate great creativity. Which ad that you have created or wish you had created would you like to highlight as worthy of celebration? 🎊 "I'm thrilled to be on the team behind this ad—it speaks for itself! Check it out: https://lnkd.in/dTrpWc5H. If I could've been part of another project, it would've been this one: https://lnkd.in/e3bAmu5q " So, let's raise our glasses (and our water bottles) to 30 years of unforgettable ads, epic parties, and the creative maestros like Ana who keep us dancing to the rhythm of innovation. 💛🥁 #GoldenDrum30

Content Insider - Awards One is never enough…two is too many…but back-to-back award events give us a hangover so…we avoid them. And from the looks of the numbers more and more people do too. Lavish award affairs – like the upcoming Oscars – are fine for the .01 percent of the .1 percent of the movie/show industry. But the 99.9 percent of the industry that make the entertainment possible don’t give long, really long thank yous or get the standing ovations. They get…a paycheck. Maybe there’s a better use for the awards contest budgets. Like using it to fund project and something that doesn’t cost much…saying thanks. If you don't, share it with two enemies. – Andy
