These resources are scattered across the country, with certain counties being particularly rich in mineral deposits. For example, Kitui, Makueni, and Kwale counties are known for their deposits of copper, iron ore, manganese, and rare earth minerals, while Turkana and West Pokot counties are emerging as significant gold producers. Additionally, the discovery of coltan in several counties marks Kenya as a future leader in the production of this strategic mineral, essential for the global electronics industry.

Uzbekistan Extracted 100 Tons of Gold in 2023, Down by 4 Tons Compared to Previous Year In 2023, Uzbekistan extracted 100 tons of gold, marking a slight decrease of 4 tons from the previous year, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Despite the decline, Uzbekistan remains a significant gold producer in the region. Kazakhstan surpassed Uzbekistan with 130 tons of gold extracted, a 15-ton increase from 2022. Russia, the region's largest producer, maintained its 2022 level of 310 tons of gold. Globally, gold production totaled 3,000 tons in 2023, down by 60 tons compared to 2022. Updated figures for Kyrgyzstan's gold production in 2023 are pending, but the country produced 25.3 tons in 2022.
