However, one mineral is set to elevate Kenya’s mineral wealth prospects beyond the country’s wildest dreams. This is because Kenya recently announced the discovery of extensive deposits of coltan, a rare and precious mineral highly coveted in the tech world. So, what is coltan❓What is it used for❓ And how rich can Kenya get from the discovery of this mineral❓ On Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, 🔶Kenya's Minister for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Salim Mvurya, formally announced that the country has discovered large deposits of the rare mineral Coltan in six counties across the nation including Samburu, Turkana, West Pokot, and Tana River. 😫Announcing at the County headquarters of Embu, one of the counties which have been established to have the precious metal, Minister Salim Mvurya clarified that the government is now assessing the economic value of the mineral through ground truthing so it is not clear exactly how large the coltan deposits found in Kenya are in terms of figures. .

Uzbekistan Extracted 100 Tons of Gold in 2023, Down by 4 Tons Compared to Previous Year In 2023, Uzbekistan extracted 100 tons of gold, marking a slight decrease of 4 tons from the previous year, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Despite the decline, Uzbekistan remains a significant gold producer in the region. Kazakhstan surpassed Uzbekistan with 130 tons of gold extracted, a 15-ton increase from 2022. Russia, the region's largest producer, maintained its 2022 level of 310 tons of gold. Globally, gold production totaled 3,000 tons in 2023, down by 60 tons compared to 2022. Updated figures for Kyrgyzstan's gold production in 2023 are pending, but the country produced 25.3 tons in 2022.
