There are many different types of rare immune disorders, each with its own specific symptoms and causes. Some examples of rare immune disorders include: 1. Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases (PIDDs): These are inherited disorders that affect the production or function of immune cells. Examples include Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID), and Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome. 2. Autoimmune Disorders: These conditions occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues. Examples include Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis. 3. Primary Antibody Deficiencies: These disorders affect the production or function of antibodies, which are proteins that help the immune system fight infections. Examples include IgA Deficiency and IgG Subclass Deficiency. 4. Secondary Immunodeficiencies: These conditions are caused by external factors, such as medications, infections, or malnutrition. Examples include HIV/AIDS, Malnutrition, and Certain Chemotherapy Drugs. 5. Inborn Errors of Immunity: These are genetic disorders that affect the immune system's ability to recognize and respond to infections. Examples include Chediak-Higashi Syndrome and Niemann-Pick Disease. Rare immune disorders can range from mild to life-threatening, and treatment options vary depending on the specific condition.
