Eriez boasts an extensive catalog of application experience, from protecting food and pharmaceuticals from metal contamination to refining minerals. However, not all new applications can be anticipated with past experiences. As industries evolve, so do the requirements for magnetic separation equipment. The Viresh Rawal Group’s latest research in the Journal of the American Chemical Society introduces a straightforward and highly effective method to modify carbonyl compounds using special Vinyl-Bis salts. By combining specially prepared intermediate compounds with Vinyl-Bis reagents, investigators achieved high-yield production of α-vinylated carbonyl compounds, applicable to a wide range of starting materials and paving the way for new possibilities in chemical reactivity. What's even more exciting is the versatility of this new method. It works with various starting materials, allowing for seamless reaction sequences and easy synthesis of a diverse array of functional compounds, showcasing the broad applicability of their approach. The Total Synthesis of Hyperfirin via a Cyclooctadiene Strategy Julien A. König, Bernd Morgenstern, and Johann Jauch* Cite this: Org. Lett. 2024, XXXX, XXX, XXX-XXX Publication Date:July 12, 2024 https://lnkd.in/dXzPWvZb © 2024 The Authors. Published by American Chemical Society Request reuse permissions Polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols (PPAPs) combine compelling structural complexity with effective biological activity. The total synthesis of Hyperfirin is reported as one linear sequence. Key to this novel modular strategy is to access the bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-2,4,9-trione framework via transannular acylation of a decorated eight-membered ring, followed by late stage bridgehead substitution. The described route adds flexibility to PPAP construction and broadens the scope of eight-membered ring chemistry.

#Publication Alert# I am pleased to share with you our latest conference paper titled “Rapid and semiquantitative analyes of ethanol and xylene isomers using FTIR spectroscopy”, published by ieeexplore with 14.91 IF. The study briefly explains the quantitative determination of ethanol in alcohol samples as well as the semi-quantification of xylene isomer proportions in a commercial cleaning solvent both carried out using the quick, simple, inexpensive, and non-destructive Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results obtained depicts that the commercial alcohol (Smirnoff vodka) and home-brewed alcohol contain 37.22 % and 37.70 % of ethanol respectively. Also discovered to be 8 %, 11 % and 69 %, respectively, were the quantities of the xylene isomers namely para-xylene, ortho-xylene, and meta-xylene in the commercial cleaning solvent. The agreement between these results with those from the manufacturing company revealed excellent precision, reliability, and convenience of the ATR-FTIR technique employed. Enjoy reading this brief but insightful and interesting piece. https://lnkd.in/dHJQp8tH
