A shift by data centers, industrial players, and hydrogen producers towards producing Carbon Free Energy 24/7 will require new tools and markets to enable the next phase of the energy transition. This ambitious approach not only addresses climate change but also catalyzes innovations in energy storage and other dispatchable resources, making clean energy available around the clock, across all conditions. Check out this whitepaper by myself and my colleagues at CRA to learn more!
New white paper! Modeling 24/7 carbon-free energy. New challenges require new tools -- large industrial loads looking to meet their power demand with 24/7 renewables will need to procure a portfolio of wind, solar, and storage resources. This paper highlights implications for these large-load customers, including hydrogen producers and data center developers. Reach out if you'd like to chat further about this important topic. #Electrification was progressing at a slow pace of 2% from 2018 to 2022, but the renewable energy part is progressing faster. The large uptick of renewables in the power sector in recent years has not fundamentally changed the overall energy demand picture. Low-carbon electricity only represents 7.7% of the overall energy consumed.
