ICI Bucharest participates in the ECYBRIDGE project, financed by the European Commission and coordinated by the Constanta Maritime University. This project aims to strengthen the coordination between the civil sector and the defence sector in the field of cyber security. Held in Constanța, the project launch meeting took place on June 20, 2024, and brought together experts and representatives of the participating organizations. Discussions focused on project goals, timelines and strategies for integrated cybersecurity approaches. ECYBRIDGE brings together 19 organizations from four EU Member States to create a unified cyber security strategy. The initiative emphasizes the connection between the civil and defence sectors in the digital domain, aiming to increase Europe's resilience against emerging cyber threats. The National Cyber Security Coordination Centre (NC3) is excited to share a significant milestone in Sierra Leone's journey towards a more secure digital future. On the 8th of February, 2024, our nation took a decisive step by ratifying the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and its First Additional Protocol on Xenophobia and Racism. This action, following a productive workshop with the Council of Europe in November 2023, marks a crucial advancement in our collective efforts to combat cybercrime. We are witness to the forging of an unstoppable global cyber defence, where the combined efforts of nations create a formidable shield against digital threats. It's a testament to the power of unity and cooperation in an increasingly interconnected world. Our collective defence is only as strong as our willingness to collaborate. Together, we can emerge from this month with a deeper appreciation for the importance of international cyber alliances and a renewed commitment to safeguarding our digital future. The “Challenges and Requirements for Effective Cyber Security in SEE Workshop”, the first activity in the project „Strengthening SEE Resilience in Cyber Security Against Hybrid Threats”, which was organized by RACVIAC-Centre for Security Cooperation in partnership with the National Defence Academy from Skopje, ended on 21st November on RACVIAC premises. The Workshop ended with the Closing remarks and certificates handed out to participants and distinguished lecturers. RADM Stipanović concluded: “If we go a step further, this workshop has showed all of us that #cooperation between nations hasn’t got an alternative. It is impossible for one nation to protect itself against cyberattacks without close cooperation with its neighbours and a more comprehensive form of cooperation on a global scale.” There was a significant level of engagement in the activity, with notable contributions on the part of both speakers and attendees (20 attendees plus 6 eminent speakers). https://shorturl.at/kvHY1

The Workshop „Challenges and Requirements for Effective Cyber Security in SEE” is being held on 19-21 November 2023 in RACVIAC-Centre for Security Cooperation ✅ The event is jointly organized by RACVIAC and the Military Academy “General Mihailo Apostolski” – Skopje as a part of a 5️⃣ -year Project, „Strengthening SEE Resilience in Cyber Security Against Hybrid Threats”. ✅The purpose is to bring together participants (policy makers, military decision makers and economic, legal and technical experts) who will be ready to share regional experience and #cooperation examples/initiatives in countering hybrid threats via cyberspace, good practices, views and experiences on the subject. At #WSF2023, the roundtable discussion entitled “Enhancing Cyber Resilience in CEE for the Benefit of NATO” culminated with two key recommendations for bolstering cyber resilience in Central and Eastern Europe, with implications for NATO’s strategic interests. ▪ First is using the NATO Malware Information Sharing Platform to improve CEE cyber resilience; ▪ The second one is building up the experience of the Swedish Psychological Agency to better counter the influence operations of adversarial states. Although ransomware and destabilization attacks rose in 2023, France’s ANSSI - Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d'information is most concerned about a diversification of cyber espionage campaigns 🕵️ In its latest annual threat report, ANSSI observed a significant rise in cyber espionage campaigns targeting strategic organizations in 2023. These operations are increasingly focused on individuals and non-governmental structures that create, host or transmit sensitive data. These geopolitically driven threats will particularly be on ANSSI’s radar in 2024, as Paris prepares to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
