We believe that architecture should be inclusive and accessible to all individuals, regardless of their neurological differences. As such, we strive to create environments that are sensory-friendly, calming, and healing. In our architectural designs, we pay close attention to factors such as lighting, acoustics and spatial layout, recognizing that these elements can have a significant impact on individuals with sensory difficulties. By incorporating features such as natural lighting, relaxing spaces and flexible layouts, we aim to create environments that are comfortable and welcoming for everyone. Through our participation in Neurodiversity Celebration Week, FSA aims to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable architectural profession, where all individuals are valued and empowered to contribute their unique talents and perspectives. Parlour Inc: gender, equity, architecture | Guides to Wellbeing in Architecture Practice Parlour has published the Guides to Wellbeing in Architecture Practice, an output of the Wellbeing of Architects research project, and a companion set to the Parlour Guides to Equitable Practice. These guides outline ways to improve wellbeing within architectural offices, with practical suggestions and advice for practices, professional bodies, and individuals – including advice for people on how to improve their own wellbeing within their workplace. These guides are available to download from Parlour’s website.

As always,  #becopenhagen received a lot of guests who were interested in our city. But this summer we had more visitors with a serious and often professional interest in Copenhagen's built environment. The questions and conversations on the tours during 2023 also changed noticeably. Often people show up for our tours with cameras and great expectations of seeing spectacular Instagramable buildings, and especially (young) design studios and construction workers come with the expectation of being aesthetically inspired, preferably with a big wow effect. But this summer there was a clear change in attention. The questions we got revolved around what architecture fundamentally does and must do in the future: What responsibility does architecture have in the world, simply? The starting point for the #becopenhagen tours is fundamentally and fundamentally that the architecture is relevant for EVERYONE. All people are affected by architecture. Architecture structures and sets the framework for our lives, and therefore it matters how architecture is designed and created. Whether it is done right or wrong. The way we build is thus also an expression of fundamental views of life and people, which have profound consequences for and in society. Despite greenwashing arrogance, 2023 also offered '10 Copenhagen Lessons' for the construction industry, which put an exclamation mark behind very basic challenges, but which are most often drowning in profit-maximizing agendas. It looks like a self-awareness and I hope and wish there is a will for real change. Both professionals and lay people see through greenwashing. And yes, there is a broad understanding that it is more important to prioritize the community in the urban space than to create impressive projects that do not "give back" to the city. I look forward to continuing with genuine and honest conversations with our guests about what Copenhagen can and must do with architecture as a prism. To take our guests on a bicycle and see with their eyes and bodies what Copenhagen's architecture does to us people who live there. Let 2024 be the year when we can showcase Copenhagen, which offers rich solutions for how to build a city that cares for people and the environment. A city that can genuinely inspire our visitors from all over the world.

Great to be at the Industrial and Logistics conference today. 🚈 🚛 🏭 Yet again the Property Week team delivered another great day full of insightful panels and opportunities to network with like-minded individuals whilst making new contacts. The day was always going to be a bit of a fact-finding mission but I have to say, I got far more from it than expected. Highlight of the day for me was Tom Alexander's masterclass on industrial building design. There were plenty of other takeaways too. I was really impressed how the sector is embracing technology, and in a way which puts some other sectors in the dark ages. There seemed a genuine passion by all to create modern sustainable workspaces that embrace the new world and the challenges and demands of Generation Alpha. 👏 I was also pleasantly surprised to hear how co-location and multi-level schemes are really seen as the future. We have several schemes in and around London where resi and multi-level industrial are sitting cheek by jowl so, coupled our ability to bring forward schemes with complex constraints and ground conditions, we clearly have something to offer the sector.  Perhaps this was the reason that I found that the Walsh name was known by many of the people I spoke to. It's always pleasing to know your name is known beyond your core markets. This is a sector that clearly shares our passion for value-added practical and sustainable design and one in which I know we will be able to assist new clients in achieving their goals. It's clearly a sector which is going places (excuse the pun! 😀 ).
