Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD has entered into an agreement with Huawei to implement Huawei's advanced autonomous driving system in its off-road Fangchengbao EVs. The Bao 8 SUV will be the inaugural model featuring Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving system and is set to be released later this year. This partnership is part of BYD's strategy to upscale its brands, aiming to enhance sales of its premium models—Denza, Fangchengbao, and Yangwang—, which represented only 5% of total sales in the first half of the year. While BYD has a strong market position due to its vertical integration strategy, it faces pressure to enhance its smart driving capabilities, prompting investments in its own advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). Currently, BYD still relies on external suppliers for some intelligent features in its premium offerings. The collaboration underscores Huawei's increasing influence in the EV sector, as it is also supplying ADAS technology to Audi for its EVs in China. #CloudComputing #China https://lnkd.in/gHfy9JEs

Chinese EV Leader is launching newly developed smart driving ADAS tech next month The first BYD city pilot assist driving feature 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 30. BYD's 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚 𝐍7 𝐒𝐔𝐕 will be the first of the auto giant's 20+ lineup to receive the upgrade. Major cities like Shenzen (BYD's headquarters) will be the first to see the feature rollout. EV makers like 𝐍𝐈𝐎, 𝐗𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐠, 𝐇𝐮𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐢, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨 are providing smart driving tech features as standard, so looks like BYD is following trend to what the rest of the industry is doing.... Investing heavily in Autonomous Driving. This is evident, as BYD is investing $14 billion (RMB 100 billion) to become a leader in intelligent driving. #BYD #ADAS #China

🤩 Here is what happened in the autonomous mobility and transportation sector 🚛. As always, just my personal opinion, please add your thoughts and comments 👇 👉 Baidu, Inc. launched the 6th generation of autonomous taxis at the Apollo Day in Wuhan. The costs of the vehicle 🚗 is 60% below the 5th generation. Price is below $30.000. A fleet of 1.000 vehicles should be deployed by the end of 2024. Besides pushing on L4 shuttles, ADAS systems are on the agenda as well to increase the return on investment: https://lnkd.in/duuvQqr5 👉 Baidu, Inc. brain for the Tesla robotaxis in China 🇨🇳? Seems that Baidu plays a crucial role in the autonomous driving future of Tesla in China. In a worst case scenario, this would be negative for Tesla 🇺🇸. Tesla would provide the shell and the brand, the intelligent system could be provided by Baidu. As Tesla is kneecapped in China by the local data regulation, there might be no other option. https://lnkd.in/dq_eTCwY 👉 Renault Group 🇫🇷 is getting closer to one of its investments from the Alliance Venture fund. the OEM is testing a L4 shuttle from WeRide during the French Open tennis tournament. Let’s see if both parties could pull off a L4 initiative that is targeting the European PTOs. I would welcome 🙏 it, as we need more strong players in Europe to build the ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/dPHCTwB6 👉 Gatik is joining forces with Isuzu 🚛: Isuzu is providing $30 million of investment 🤑, both parties agree to develop ADAS and L4 AD systems to automate the logistics sector. We have seen similar deals in the past: Torc Robotics got acquired by Daimler Truck AG after a first investment 💰 round. Plus joint forces with TRATON GROUP and Iveco Group to push level 4 systems: https://lnkd.in/dQY5R6tr What’s is missing? Please add your top stories and some context. #mobility #automotive #autonomus

Many automakers in China are accelerating the launch of high-end intelligent driving systems following Tesla CEO Elon Musk's announcement of the imminent release of the Full Self-Driving system in the Chinese market. Xpeng Motors recently introduced the Xpeng Navigation Guided Pilot, an advanced driving assistant system utilizing a large language model. Mercedes-Benz plans to equip some new models with an urban navigation autopilot system next year and is testing its level four autonomous driving cars in Beijing. Huawei Technologies will unveil its ADS 3.0 smart driving solution in August. Chinese startups Nio and Li Auto are set to introduce similar systems this year. Automakers like Voyah and Volkswagen Group are collaborating with tech firms to enhance their smart driving offerings. A report indicates that over four million cars with Navigation on Autopilot are expected by next year, growing in market value significantly by 2027. However, most advanced assistant driving features are limited to expensive models, making widespread adoption challenging. Developers are focusing on increasing market share at the expense of profitability, with concerns about declining consumer willingness to pay for smart driving features despite high interest. #MotiveAsia #China https://lnkd.in/gycG6AQ5

China is one of the most relaxed countries regarding laws regarding autonomous driving. In China, cars can already do the most crazy maneuvers, while in Europe I still have to occasionally touch my steering wheel. 🛞😅 Changing laws regarding autonomous cars is very complex. If a car crashes into something, whose fault is it? When it has to choose to crash into a building or a group of people... what does it need to do? These ambiguous situations for liability are reason enough to change legislation carefully. 🏛️ In China, they are pushing this legislation hard to combat the upcoming population aging. As a result, every domestic company is innovating as hard as it can to become the leader in this field. Even Chinese netizens have no clue what is happening. 🤣👇 The cars you see in the video are Chery & Huawei's Luxeed cars. 🚗 Exciting developments on Software Defined Vehicles and the future of Autonomous Mobility! Hyundai Motor Group is acting to secure its position in the rapidly evolving software-defined vehicle (SDV) market. The company is set to establish a new R&D center in Silicon Valley, recognizing that "its future depends on the success of SDVs." Important takeaways: • The global SDV market is projected to grow by 54.9% to $419.7 billion by 2028. • Competition is intensifying with EV leaders like Tesla and BYD, as well as tech giants like Huawei, all vying for dominance in automotive software development. I am here referring to the article by "The Korean Economic Daily" (below) which already paints an interesting picture of a future where SDVs and autonomous vehicles reshape our cities and transportation systems. 🤔 Hyundai's strategic move comes after its executives, including CEO Chang Jae-hoon, were reportedly impressed by the advanced software capabilities of Chinese EV makers at the Shanghai auto show. This underscores the critical role of software in the future of the automotive industry. As vehicles increasingly become "computers on wheels," the race to develop cutting-edge SDV technology will be crucial for automakers' long-term success. Is Hyundai right to act so strongly on SDV and Autonomous Vehicle? #AutonomousVehicles #SoftwareDefinedVehicles #FutureMobility #HyundaiMotor #AutomotiveInnovation
