Energy providers are constantly improving—pushed by the growing demand for more electricity. Beyond advancing innovation, companies must also contend with changing regulations on transmission ratings and power flow. Over multiple collaborative projects, EPRI developed a methodology that produces a range of ratings options for companies to meet both National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) requirements and internal key metrics. So when Duke Energy Corporation sought greater consistency across states that had previously developed ratings methods independently, it reached out to EPRI for help. EPRI developed a methodology that produces a range of ratings options ranking from low-risk options that may reduce power flow to higher-risk options that can increase capacity, reducing congestion and potentially deferring other costly capital upgrades. Having deployed enough ACCC high temperature low sag conductor to circle the earth more than four times, many utilities have reviewed the merits and adopted its use. Once you realize the lower conductor weight means smaller towers and footprint, greenfield project costs really start to drop. The ability to use the same right of way and towers to increase capacity through reconductoring will often make the difference between a project happening or not.
The energy landscape is evolving, and the demand for increased transmission capacity is at an all-time high. Join us tomorrow for an exclusive webinar hosted by CTC Global, where we’ll explore how ACCC® Conductors can help utilities meet these growing demands without the lengthy delays of new rights-of-way. 🕐 Thursday, October 17th, 10:00 a.m. P.T. 🔗 Register: https://lnkd.in/gFkG68ak #AdvancedConductors #GridModernization #Utilities

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) earned an appalling C- for its interconnection process in a scorecard released earlier this year by Grid Strategies LLC and The Brattle Group. While the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Order No. 2023 will be an important first step, more work is needed to improve interconnection across regional transmission operators to meet growing demand. Join us this #InterconnectionWeek in applauding FERC for convening a two-day workshop on interconnection, and calling for further reforms: https://hubs.ly/Q02PczGr0

Today, we submitted a joint proposal with EU DSO Entity for the Network Code on Demand Response to EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER). This new Network Code on Demand Response will be key to ensure the integration of demand-side flexibility resources into the energy system needed for the #decarbonisation of the power system. The Network Code includes further common rules to facilitate aggregation of resources, demand response rules and energy storage across the European Union. The Network Code on Demand Response will facilitate the integration of technology-neutral demand-side flexibility into related transmission and distribution system services for the overall benefit of consumers. This new code: 🔌facilitates access to electricity markets for all resources, ⚖️ sets principles for the development of harmonised rules, and 💶 defines market-based processes for selecting the most cost-efficient resources.
