Feature - Building a promising future for the space sector in the North East “The conference clearly showed the significant progress and collaborative efforts within the UK space industry. The North East is playing an essential role in this development.” Last month more than 200 people from across the globe, including international experts, academics and those at the forefront of driving the space agenda, gathered for the North East Space Conference, the tenth year it has been held in the region. The conference, which was sponsored by Lockheed Martin, The North East Technology Park - NETPark, Newcastle University, Northumbria University and Orbex, discussed a wide range of issues, including the changing opportunities for the sector in the North East, the work being done on creating an ecosystem for outer space, what the growth of the space industry means to local universities, as well as outlining changing business opportunities in the space industry. Lockheed Martin have also partnered with Northumbria University and the UK Space Agency to build the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre, a £50 million project that aims to create “a hub for space technology” and further unlock the potential of the North East space sector. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Launch! For the second consecutive year, the Department of Space Studies-UND participated in the annual BALLS rocket launch event, held in Black Rock Desert, Nevada. This year's event marked the 32nd anniversary of this prestigious rocketry gathering. Organized by TRIPOLI, the American association for high-power amateur rocketry, BALLS32 took place in one of the most remarkable landscapes in the country and provided a unique opportunity to apply scientific and engineering principles to practical rocketry. This year's event saw over 200 participants, including spectators and rocket enthusiasts from around the globe, who launched rockets, tested experimental motors, and explored new frontiers in rocketry technology. One of our PhD students, Jurie Visagie, successfully built and launched his LOC-IV rocket, earning his Level 1 certification on his first attempt and achieving Level 2 certification on his second. In doing so, he became the first student from our department to successfully fly a J-class motor, producing over 1,200 N-sec of total impulse and an average thrust of 270 N. Dr. Fernandez-Tous, who proudly witnessed these achievements, also launched a J-class rocket on the final day of the event. Both rockets, flown by Mr. Visagie and Dr. Fernandez-Tous, reached apogees exceeding 4,000 feet. Building on this momentum, preparations for the BALLS33 event are already underway, with plans for an even larger representation of UND students aiming to achieve greater milestones in high-power rocketry. The sky is the limit – will you rise to the challenge? #UNDproud #UNDaerospace

Hello everyone 🌟! Today, let's dive into the past to celebrate the technological and scientific advancements that have shaped our present and inspire our future 🔭🚀. 🌕 On July 20, 1969, a small step for man became a giant leap for mankind, with Neil Armstrong walking on the Moon. This space saga, watched by over 600 million viewers, remains a source of inspiration for dreamers and innovators. 👨🚀 Just before, in 1961, Yuri Gagarin had already taken us beyond our atmosphere, proving that the sky is not the limit. 🌉 And looking a bit further back, the Alexandre III Bridge, inaugurated in 1900, stands as a symbol of the union of art and technology, reflecting the human genius capable of creating beauty from steel and stone. These moments in our history are not just dates on a calendar, but milestones showing how perseverance, ingenuity, and a thirst for exploration can lead humanity towards new horizons 🌌. 👉 What scientific or technological advancement inspires you the most today? #Innovation #Science #Technology #History #Inspiration #Future

A Message from our Founding President, Col. Dr. Robert M. Krone. Welcome students, scholars, and space advocates to Kepler Space University (KSU). Our administration, faculty, and staff are dedicated to Space research and education for the expansion of human civilization from Earth into Space, with the primary goal of benefitting humans everywhere on Earth and beyond. KSU provides relevant educational programs and research solutions to business, industry and government in support of continuing Space Exploration, Commercialization, and Human Space Settlement. Today is one of the most exciting times in the history of the world, as we look back through the ages we see amazing accomplishments that have been made in Science, engineering, medicine, and so many different aspects of life that have brought us to this point and have set the stage for us to move forward into a Era never before imagined. We at Kepler Space University, look forward to you joining our academic and research programs in the global space community in the quest of the inevitable future Space Epoch. Science, technology and brainpower continue to give us the tools to achieve humanity’s successful journey into Space. Our vision and belief is that humankind can be continually improved, avoid extinction and survive in perpetuity by capturing the resources waiting in Space. The Law of Space Abundance – which states “Space has abundant resources to meet human needs” has been proven valid. But science and technology has also given humanity the tools for its own extermination. Our cradle Earth has evolved us to the verge of maturity. But we are not yet there; and the human factors for selecting the good paths and rejecting the bad ones remains a challenge we will address. We believe that Space holds the answer for humanity’s ultimate victory. Help us work toward that vision. #spaceeducation #spacephilosophy #KeplerU
