We are pleased to announce that our ESFS Annual Report 23/24 is now available to read. The report highlights the milestones we have undertaken in each department and our development throughout this academic year. After a fruitful year, driven by the tremendous motivation of our participants and the significant efforts of our members, we are proud to announce that we had over 800 attendees across 15 major events organised this year, actively engaging with over 40 industry professionals and leaders. As the largest finance society in Spain, we plan to expand even further next year. We additionally thank all our members for their efforts this year and look forward to the upcoming year with great enthusiasm. The ESFS would like to thank Mariia Tsaturyan for her incredible efforts in curating this report over the past two months. Finally, as we say goodbye to our previous board, we wish them all the best in their future endeavours. Thank you, Nikitas Kitsantas, Carlotta Nardello, Tatiana Kümin Cabal and María Grego Llácer for guiding us this year. We warmly welcome our new board: Alain Castaños López, our president; Samad Ahuja Musella, our vice president; Alba Prat Cunill, our treasurer; Jan Voltas, our head of IB; Pablo Ardèvol Duran, our head of asset management; as well as our board advisors: Nikitas Kitsantas and Carlotta Nardello.     Is it too early for me to mention Christmas? Well, here at Lockie Consultants (UK) Ltd, we are already prepared for those of you who have or intend to register for The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI) L7 case study financial plan assessment in November. If you want to get it all completed before Christmas or holiday season, now is the time to get planning. To help you, we are doing the following: 1. All courses have been refreshed and are ready for you. 2. All pre-course preparation coursework will be released to you on 1 November. So you can get ahead with plenty of time to spare. 3. All the remaining course content will be released on 21 November - one week before you receive your case study. This is so that you can start building out your spreadsheets before you receive your case study from CISI on 28 November. 4. All 1:2:1s are valid for 14 months, which cover three submissions - so you don't have to worry if the world descends on you and you can't finish it all the first time around. 5. All four live group sessions and all your 1:2:1s are recorded so you can watch them back as many times as you want and remind yourself what we discussed. 6. All the course content is there waiting for you from 21 November - so you can see what lies ahead and plan accordingly. What you need to do: 1. Order your case study from CISI. 2. Choose which course you'd like to do with us and book on - you will receive all the login information straight away and can access your course on 1 November. 3. Plan out your diary now - remember it'll take you about 150-200 hours work to pass this assessment. 4. Your submission deadline is 6 February 2025 - so there is still plenty of time to get ahead now and then pause over Christmas if you wish. Choose your strategy and have a plan B backup.     Happy to share I passed FP Canada’s Technical Education Program Final Exam last week as part of my journey to obtain the Certified Financial Planner Designation (CFP). While I do not intend to act as a ‘Financial Planner’, there is great value in working towards this professional designation to be able to better lead teams I support assisting personal and corporate clients, and develop strategy that considers the needs of all clients comprehensively. It’s important for me to continuously be learning, or sharpening my brain outside of my daily work 🧠 📚 Next step is Advanced Technical Education Program, CFP Professional Education Program and then CFP Exam! Back to studying… #CFP #FinancialPlanning

    Hi All, In case you missed it....On May 22, 2024, the FP Canada Standards Council announced amendments to the FP Canada Standards Council Standards of Professional Responsibility. Below is a highlight of the changes: A new Rule of Conduct relates to the identification and documentation of a Trusted Contact Person. It states that CFP professionals and QAFP professionals must inform their clients about the role of a Trusted Contact Person (TCP) and take reasonable steps to determine whether they would like to name a TCP. (This rule will help ensure that financial planners have an authorized person who they can contact and share personal information with under certain circumstances, such as if they suspect their client is being financially exploited. As such, it protects potentially vulnerable clients) The second new Rule of Conduct prohibits a CFP professional or QAFP professional from, among other things, acting as an estate trustee or executor, acting as a power of attorney for property, or knowingly being named as a beneficiary for a client while concurrently providing them with financial planning services. There is an exemption where the client is a family member. (This rule protects the public by helping financial planners avoid conflicts of interest) The Standards Panel also introduced a new Practice Standard. The "Monitor and Review" Practice Standard notes that, if the financial planning engagement includes ongoing monitoring, financial planners should engage in regular reviews. Any revised assumptions or recommendations resulting from these reviews should be documented and incorporated in an updated financial plan.
