💡 "This is the first bond to link financial returns to the removal of carbon from the atmosphere." ♻ Investors like Nuveen, a TIAA company who invested in the new bond will receive a coupon consisting of a fixed guaranteed component, and a variable component tied to CRUs (Carbon Removal Units) generated by reforestation projects by Brazil-based company MOMBAK. Why is this game changing? Because until now the bond market had focused primarily on issuing bonds tied to carbon credits from avoided emissions, arguably a significantly less impactful outcome. #sustainablefinance #greenbonds #sustainablerealestate #carbonremoval https://lnkd.in/dgSSbiDs

𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 Did you know that only 5% of global investors are fully committed to green portfolios? Yeah, you heard it right. Just 5%! Green portfolio investment advisory is a real hype. With the rise of renewable energy and sustainability initiatives, there's a new wave of investments that's creating buzz. Green portfolios are not just about making money, they're about making a difference. But why are only 5% of investors all in? Are the rest missing out on something big? Or are they wisely avoiding a potential trap? 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: 1. Green portfolio investments can yield high returns due to the growing demand for sustainable solutions. 2. They represent a chance to make a positive impact on the environment and society. 3. But, they also come with increased risk associated with new technologies and regulatory uncertainties. Are you willing to take the risk for potential high returns and the chance to make a difference? #GreenInvestment #ImpactInvestingExpert #RiskvsReward

In case you’ve missed it, earlier this month we published a Green Bond Framework that we think was quite an achievement - and we are very grateful to everyone that put in such hard work to make this important framework a reality. The framework contains clear sustainability commitments related to bonds and other instruments issued to finance WA3RM’s future projects. The framework also defines how proceeds will be used and managed, how projects will be evaluated and selected, and how information will be reported. The framework was developed according to the International Capital Markets Association green bond principles, which is a leading voluntary framework. The publication of the framework is a big step forward in ensuring credibility, transparency, and consistency in our sustainability work, and the framework will be used to enhance our communication to key stakeholders including industry partners in our projects, municipalities where we develop projects, and financial partners such as investors or lenders. We also hope to use this framework to access new financing opportunities from new investors and lenders who are interested in financing large-scale sustainable development projects. You can find the WA3RM Green Bond Framework in full on WA3RM’s website (https://lnkd.in/dzb24tyD). The framework was developed with external Second Party Opinion provided by DNV and with support from Vinga Group.

Under the new rules, funds using #ESG, sustainability, or impact terms, or environmental terms such as “green,” “environmental,” or “climate,” will be required to meet investment thresholds including having at least 80% of assets in investments used to meet the sustainability characteristics of the fund, and to follow the exclusion criteria for Paris Aligned Benchmarks (#PABs). PAB exclusions include companies involved in controversial weapons, production of tobacco, those with more than 10% of revenue from oil production or refining, 1% from coal, or 50% from gas fuels production, and those with most revenues coming from emissions-intensive energy generation. https://lnkd.in/gbPQjdc7
