In the United States, the USDA estimates that 30-40% of our food supply is wasted. 31% of that food waste is at the retail and consumer level. On the individual stage, it's the food that lives (and dies) in the unseeable parts of your fridge. For me, that's the space behind the milk and the kombucha. For the nation, it's all of those unseeable parts of our fridges, and all of the resources it took to create that food, combined.
During Earth Month, and Food Waste Prevention Week, try to keep track of the food in your fridge - especially the food behind your milk and/or kombucha. Build a habit that will save you money and help make your neighborhood more sustainable. If you're looking for ways to get more involved in making our city a more green and less hungry place to live - you know where to find us. #FoodWastePreventionWeek2024 #SecondHelpingsAtlanta #MoreGreenLessHungry #KombuchaLoversofLinkedin
