Women, LGBTQIA+ people, and the families who depend on us have a lot at stake in the upcoming #FarmBill. Women—especially Black, Latina, and Native women, women with disabilities, and immigrant women—and LGBTQIA+ individuals have long been disproportionately likely to experience poverty, hunger, and hardship. They are also more likely to rely on SNAP, our nation’s bedrock anti-hunger program that will be reviewed in the upcoming Farm Bill. This #WomensHistoryMonth, let's commit to celebrating achievements and addressing the systemic challenges that continue to affect women's lives. A recent study has identified Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi, in particular, as the worst states for women's economic and social well-being, safety, and healthcare in 2024. I have taken action to safeguard access to reproductive care, including abortion and contraception...
