Located in Danbury, Connecticut, near our headquarters, Western Connecticut State University has had a longstanding relationship with Ethan Allen. It's home to the Ancell School of Business, named after our co-founder Nat Ancell, and to the Kathwari Honors Program, an interdisciplinary program designed to nurture the business and civic leaders of the future. We are pleased to announce that the Irfan Kathwari Foundation, honoring our CEO Farooq Kathwari’s late son, recently made a substantial donation to launch a Graduate Fellowship Program at WestConn. https://lnkd.in/g4uWkJ95

Aspiring CMPC wanting to help others fulfill their greatest potential through the use of mental skills.
To most of you Birmingham-Southern College won’t mean anything, but for me, it was home. A place where I was challenged not only physically through college athletics, but academically as well. A place where I forged friendships that have continued far past my four years on The Hilltop. I couldn’t be more grateful for the liberal arts education that constantly pushed me outside of my comfort zones, and for the professors who were there to lead us with such compassion and care each time we walked into their classes. Unfortunately 2024 will be this schools final class. After years of financial struggles, and an unforeseen letdown from the Alabama state treasurer, BSC will be closing its doors. If at all possible, it would mean so much not just to me, but the students and faculty at BSC for any kind of donation. Students and faculty are going through the tough process of transferring schools, and finding new teaching positions, so any amount of donation may help make their transitions smoother, and ensure the remaining students have the best final months that they deserve. While it’s painful to know Birmingham-Southern will no longer have its doors open, I’ve been reflecting on a paragraph from an article written about the closing of BSC by Kyle Whitmire for Al.com. Kyle writes: “Pain isn’t meaningless and it isn’t useless. It’s a reminder and a motivator. That hurt you feel is because this thing you’ve been a part of was important”. And maybe “important” is the word to sum up my time there. The education, the life lessons, the people, the relationships, the memories. They were all important. So just as BSC taught us, no matter where we go in life, and no matter what may come our way we will move Forward, Ever. https://lnkd.in/dMVMusgA

We're thrilled to see Lilly Endowment's $100M investment in UNCF to help boost endowments for #HBCUs! For too long, HBCUs have been systemically underfunded—by billions of dollars—despite producing promising outcomes for Black students at rates on par with or better than higher-resourced predominantly white institutions. We're proud to support UNCF, along with Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Partnership for Education Advancement, through the HBCU Transformation Project, which is enabling the substantial transformation of HBCUs at scale, helping to close racial disparities and increase economic mobility and wealth-building for Black people and communities. https://lnkd.in/efkw2A9K

This holiday season, "Give the Gift of Mentorship" to first-generation college students in Chicago. At iMentor, we believe 1:1 mentorship for first-generation students on Chicago’s South and West Sides increases the chance for them to enroll, persist, and graduate from #college. 🎓 A college degree is the most direct path to economic mobility – a four-year college graduate earns $1M more over their lifetime than someone who doesn’t go to college making a bachelor’s degree worth 84% more than a high school diploma. For most students applying to college, they turn to individuals in their network, or their family’s network, for support and guidance, but for first-generation college going students, social networks and professional resources that specifically open access to higher educational pathways are limited. Your #GivingTuesday2023 donation at any level supports the next generation of leaders for #Chicago. Please consider a monthly or a one-time donation in support of our work. Whatever you can give will make an incredible difference! https://lnkd.in/gpaAWbUd
