Coffee and contracts! The series continues, and this is my 3rd post as a breakout room facilitator. Here are my highlights from today's session:
1) ON THE CUSP OF A TIPPING POINT. Contracting between social care and health care is gaining momentum. The collective wisdom is making "more" and "better" happen at a faster and faster rate. Peer-to-peer opportunities like this are a powerful catalyst
2) IT'S OK TO SAY NO. Community Care Hubs (CCHs) do and should prioritize the care needs of their community members. When occasional health sector contract opportunities come by that aren't aligned with mission, and/or aren't financially sustainable, its ok to say no.
3) KNOW WHEN TO USE LAWYERS, and when you don't have to... Invest time upfront to develop great templates and well-trained staff. And then enjoy the benefits of growth, experience and "not your first rodeo" to decide when lawyers are not required.
4) WELCOME THE FRANK QUESTIONS. One participant shared that Health Plans and Providers have been asking lately: What's the upside to me of having contracts with social care? I know some of my impassioned social care colleagues might be miffed that isn't obvious, given their fantastic work. But, from my POV, that sounds like leaning in. Frank discussion about real value creation for contracting partners and the members they serve is awesome and just what is needed to unlock the highest value.
Partners in Care Foundation just rocks! Ester Sefilyan and Anne Ly shared their incredible expertise which informed these points and the collective discussion. Thanks all who facilitated and participated.
