Happy international Social Work Day 2024! it was great to join The Forum Organised today by CMHL with great inspirational speakers talking about the sense of identity and professional resilience required during those times characterised by complexities and divisions with fragmented systems, social inequalities driving even more severe economic disadvantage and compromised access to those already disadvantaged incl people with mental illness and their families. The qualities that social work beings as a profession with its strong human rights and advocacy focus create a good sense of foundation for the transformative change highlighted as a motto for this year's celebrations. The idea of transformative change emphasizes the need for social workers to adopt innovative, community- led approaches grounded in indigenous wisdom and harmonious co-existence with nature, which resonates with core values of social work. Our strong presence in that space and contributing towards " positive peace" through critical reflection and advocacy for more consolidated systemic interventions embedded in human rights and social justice principles are of invaluable importance in creating more collaborative and consumer-centered service system. “Buen vivir” everyone! , let's celebrate social work as profession that " stands up for what is right"😉😊 and does not shy away from challanges and complexities the modern world creates. #internationalsocialworkday2024 #socialwork #socialimpact #socialchange #socialjustice #socialawareness

The 2023 Edelman Trust Barometer highlights a world that is deeply and dangerously polarized, with a significant decline in social cohesion globally. With the declining public trust in traditional institutions, the role of the private sector in fostering social cohesion has never been more critical! It is time to take action and see workplaces as vehicles for positive change! Check out our Call for Papers and Human Resource Management (HRM)! We seek contributions that explore the potential roles and impacts of business practices on social cohesion. We encourage submissions that critically examine HRM practices, their potential to advance depolarization, and their broader community implications. Join us (Jeannie Eun Su Lee, Helen De Cieri, Catherine Connelly and Ellen Ernst Kossek) in shaping the future of global business by addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time. For submission guidelines and deadlines, please see the Call for Papers.

The goal of organisations working for equity is to run ourselves out of business. At the heart of it, we're all just people; and despite our differences, we tend to want similar things. At work we want to contribute to something meaningful, to support ourselves and our families, and to collaborate with like-minded individuals. Finding out how far we are from having equal access to that is a painful realization. Trans and non-binary folk in Aotearoa earn only 50% the median income compared to the general population. Yet, the answer isn't only in offering support to the marginalized. If employers were competent creating environments where we (and our stressed-out colleagues who don't have access to quality education) could thrive, that statistic would flatten. And your people could relax and get on with the job at hand. Most people aren't intentionally causing harm. They're just misinformed and fearful of making hurtful mistakes. Our employers need help. Our colleagues need help. And trans folk are damn well ready for everyone to build workplace competency, so we can start running our heaters through the winter like everybody else. Introducing: The Wedge. This is the concept we use to externalize the problem from any particular 'bad guys' and 'good guys,' and demonstrate that we are all affected by the prevalence of misinformation, fear and shame. Because right now, everybody needs a little help. We're here to offer it. To start dismantling the wedge in your own mind, come join a public workshop next Wednesday, 27th. Tickets on offer through the link below. https://lnkd.in/gUMkPphr #Equity #Inclusion #Diversity #TransCulturalCompetency

We want to act with courage and love, towards social justice - and 2024 is a galvanising year for change... ** This message is coming from me as the ex-advisor of the Houses of Parliament - Racism in Aid inquiry and Dr Lata Narayanaswamy, Associate Professor in the Politics of Global Development at the University of Leeds, who gave evidence to the inquiry . ** Some months ago I posted a survey question on LinkedIn, on 'Has the IDC's inquiry into Racism in Aid made any difference in your organisation?' - the feedback was pretty grim. The grim results got both Lata and I thinking about what is true, and what is useful to discuss, with those giving energy towards such inquiries? Sooo.... ⭐We want to put some incredible people in the room together, with passions and purpose alignment, we may cultivate insights, and also create more energy for change! ⭐We are looking for those who were witnesses for philosophy of aid and racism in aid inquires. ⭐ We have contacted a lot of you already, but we don’t have everyone’s email addresses. We are looking to discuss: - What was the expectation of giving evidence? - Did the expectation move to reality - what would need to happen for expectations to move to reality? - How did the lessons of the report land with your organisations? - How has providing evidence strengthened or diminished trust with the IDC? - What, if anything, would you like to see an incoming government commit to in relation to tackling ‘Racism in Aid’? The event would take place in September **This is an independent event from the IDC** ⭐ If you have any questions – DM me #diversity #coaching #workshops #standinyourpower #wellbeing #antiracism #diversityequityinclusion #inclusion #leadership #empathy #leadershipskills #fcdo #makeaidbetter #equitymatters #equityandinclusion #diversityequityinclusion #antiracisminaid #intersectionality #innovation #localisation #theinnovation

🌐✨ On this World Day of Social Justice, We are proud to stand with our global community in recognizing the pivotal role that social justice plays in shaping international, national, and regional policies. 🌍💼 🤝 The United Nations emphasizes the increasing momentum behind the idea that social justice should be the guiding principle for all policies. Prioritizing decent work, fundamental rights, and fostering a fair globalization agenda with robust social dialogue between governments, employers, and workers is essential for building cohesive societies and sustainable economies. 🌎 However, we must also acknowledge the persistent challenges we face – grave injustices, widespread labor insecurity, and high inequality, exacerbated by global crises. These realities threaten the progress we've made on social issues, making it imperative to urgently reinforce institutions and policies that genuinely advance social justice. 🤲 Proposals for progress include improving inclusive governance of work, ensuring lifelong learning and employment opportunities, reforming institutions for fairer labor market outcomes, and extending social protections across people's lifetimes. An integrated approach is crucial, and there's a growing call for a Global Coalition for Social Justice. This coalition aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation and aligned policies, highlighting impactful initiatives worldwide and empowering national dialogues to address social justice gaps. 🌐 The International Labour Organization's Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization, adopted in 2008, serves as a powerful reaffirmation of values. It emphasizes the key role of the ILO in achieving progress and social justice in the context of globalization, institutionalizing the Decent Work concept at the core of policies to reach constitutional objectives. 🌍 Let us collectively recognize that social development and social justice are indispensable for peace and security within and among nations. As we celebrate the World Day of Social Justice, let's recommit ourselves to fostering an environment where respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms prevails, paving the way for a more just, inclusive, and prosperous world. 💙🌐 Live More. Be More. #LiveMore #BeMore #EvansBaroque #WorldDayOfSocialJustice #SocialJustice #GlobalImpact #ProfessionalDevelopment

Today, 19 March 2024, is celebrated as World Social Work Day by the International Federation of Social Workers. It aims to highlight the achievements of social work and social workers who untiringly work for the betterment of society day in and out. Principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversities are central to social work. I wanted to take time to share a few comments on the UN's World Day of Social Justice (https://lnkd.in/d_sVB7MR) which is observed today, 20 February. Highlighting the issue of Social Justice is increasingly important in the work that I and my teams do at @Gi Group Holding, because of the massive and rapid transitions that the global labour market is going through. This includes job markets in many regions where I work in France, Spain, Brazil, and Latin America. I am proud that my teams are committed to supporting principles of social justice as that guidance relates to candidates' finding and thriving in meaningful employment. Issues like creation and maintenance of fair, just work environments or the right to access jobs that are fairly compensated and freely chosen are critical elements of a socially just world of work. That is why I am pleased to see my colleagues and peers consistently put in extra efforts to support and aid at-risk groups on regional labour markets and help them find paths to dignified, meaningful and prosperous employment. Whether it's our Be Yourself, Elas Project or Senior Inclusion campaigns in Brazil or our volunteer career insertion initiatives in Argentina or our Job Talk sessions in Spain helping women or persons at risk of social exclusion, we are committed to achieving social justice not only IN the workplace but also when ACCESSING the workplace. What about you? Are you committed to helping create socially just employment and career opportunities? Will you join us in this effort? I would love to hear about your social justice-focused activities in the comments below. #GiGroupHolding #SocialJustice #FairWorkConditions #DignifiedWork
