The report labels 97% of chemicals studied as (very) hazardous, which need to be phased out ASAP. The same result you’d get for any other application or material group, ceramic, metal, biobased. The report is the perfect illustration that polarised green, hazard, precautionary approach does not work, unless your goal is getting back to the stone age (before the invention of fire). The sensible way forward towards a sustainable future is a realistic, well balanced and effective risk based approach!!

These discoveries add to growing evidence that plastic pollution poses a significant health risk. The problem: • Global plastic production has doubled since 2000 and is expected to double again by 2040. • Microplastics are accumulating in our environment and bodies, potentially contributing to declining sperm health and other health issues. • The economic burden of plastic-related diseases is staggering, exceeding $675 billion in the U.S. alone for BPA, DEHP, and PBDE exposure.
