If you want your degree to help you land a fulfilling job, consider studying music therapy. The medical and therapeutic fields are among the college majors helping graduates get jobs that make the world a better place, according to graduates surveyed in a recent Payscale report. Alumni with bachelor’s degrees in music therapy are most likely to do this kind of fulfilling work, with 95% of degree-holders saying their work makes the world a better place, Payscale finds. Music therapy programs cover coursework in music, music therapy, science and psychology, according to the American Music Therapy Association. However, those positions often don’t pay top dollar. The median income for music therapy degree-holders is just $49,400 in the first five years of working, and $64,900 with 10 or more years of experience. Other degrees can pay better, though. See the nine majors and degrees that alumni are most likely to say led to meaningful careers, according to Payscale — including 2 that pay more than $100,000: cnb.cx/4d8ANvX

🎹 Embracing the Keys: The Transformative Power of Piano Playing and Music Education 🎵 Hello all, In my today's post, I'm going to discuss about the Benefits of Piano Playing as well as the impact and importance of Music education, especially in schools and how learning to play the piano can positively impact a person's overall development. As someone passionate about music education, I want to emphasize the impact of piano playing on personal and academic development. Learning to play the piano enhances cognitive abilities, including memory, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills. In addition to nurturing intellectual growth, piano playing fosters creativity and innovation, skills that are valuable in all aspects of life. Music education cultivates an appreciation for the arts and instills a lifelong passion for learning. Learning to play an instrument, such as the piano, not only enriches academic experiences but also fosters emotional well-being and social connections. It's about nurturing the whole person, providing a holistic education that prepares students for the complexities of the modern world. Sadly, music programs in schools are often among the first to face budget cuts. However, we must recognize the immense value they bring to students lives. Let's champion music education, advocate for its inclusion in school curricula, and celebrate the transformative power of piano playing. Together, let's ensure that future generations have the opportunity to unlock their potential through the magic of music. 🎶✨ #MusicEducation #Piano #PersonalDevelopment #EducationMatters #unlock potential #benefits of Piano playing #Music Academics #educational and personal environments #Social connections #holistic Education

Ascension Piano Studio: Where Technique Meets Artistry Are you frustrated with your piano progress? Do you dream of playing without pain and achieving your musical goals? Let me share my journey of transformation and how I can help you achieve the same. From as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a concertizing pianist. I dreamed of the day I would be on stage, loved by everyone as I performed beautiful music by Rachmaninoff. I entered college ready to take on the music world. Then came That Day. The day I stood outside a practice room door, listening to another pianist, as my dreams crumbled to dust around me. I was forced to realize I had not been taught the technical and performing skills needed to be on the classical stage. Thus started my journey—years of teachers, school, self-study, and a life devoted to being the best piano/music teacher I could be. I still seemed to be missing something in my studying. I would practice and practice and practice, only to have the same problems or stumbles. It was not the answer. Then came the pain. Pain in my back, neck, arms, elbows, and hands—all caused by bad habits developed in the old days. Again, I wanted to stop playing. I realized that if I couldn't play without pain, how could I teach my students to do so? One day, everything changed. I began to completely rebuild my technique. As my pain began to disappear, she presented me with a completely different way of practicing. Artistic practicing was not just adding more repetitions but focusing on how each repetition was played. With this, I was able to achieve a level in performance and teaching that I had only dreamed of all those years ago. This led to being known for my diagnostic skills and natural approach to piano technique. At Ascension Piano Studio, my mission is to provide students with the comprehensive technical and performance skills they need to achieve their musical dreams, free from pain and full of artistic expression. I have coached many students of all ages and levels, producing more artistic performers. This includes adjusting the approach to practicing. I envision a world where every aspiring pianist has the tools and guidance to play beautifully and effortlessly, transforming their practice into performance and their dreams into reality. If this sounds like what you have been experiencing… If you want to continue playing and growing but it hurts… If practice never seems to lead to a finished piece… If you struggle with pain and tightness while playing… Then maybe we can work together to help you experience the freedom of a good, healthy technique and effective practice habits. Unlike traditional piano instruction, Ascension Piano Studio focuses on correcting technical issues and improving practice strategies, ensuring students play without pain and reach their highest potential. If this sounds like the piano lessons you would be interested in, please reach out to me at ascensionpianostudio.com to book a call.

*WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT MUSIC EDUCATION?* Reflecting on the importance of music education in our schools today, it becomes evident that its significance extends far beyond the confines of a classroom. Music education have served and continue to serve as a cornerstone in fostering holistic development, enriching cultural understanding, and nurturing essential life skills. Firstly, music education enhances cognitive abilities and academic performance. Research consistently demonstrates that engaging with music improves language development, mathematical skills, and spatial reasoning. Through the intricate patterns and structures inherent in music, students sharpen their problem-solving skills and enhance their ability to think critically and creatively. Moreover, music education also fosters social and emotional development. In ensemble settings, students learn the value of collaboration, communication, and teamwork. They develop empathy, respect, and appreciation for diverse perspectives as they work towards a shared artistic goal. Music provides a platform for self-expression and emotional exploration, allowing students to navigate their feelings and build resilience in the face of challenges. Furthermore, music education is integral to preserving cultural heritage and promoting global awareness. By studying various musical traditions and genres, students gain insight into different cultures, histories, and identities. They cultivate empathy and understanding towards individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of unity amidst diversity. Additionally, music education nurtures lifelong appreciation and participation in the arts. By igniting a passion for music early in life, schools empower students to become informed consumers and active contributors to the cultural landscape. Whether pursuing music professionally or as a hobby, students develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts, enriching their lives and communities. In conclusion, I believe music education transcends mere notes and melodies; it is a catalyst for intellectual, emotional, and cultural growth. By investing in music education, schools equip students with the tools they need to succeed academically, socially, and personally. As we navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world, the value of music education in our schools today cannot be overstated. My question for music educators: As music educators, how can we adapt our teaching methods and curriculum to ensure that music education remains relevant and engaging for today's diverse student population, while also addressing the evolving technological and cultural landscapes influencing the field of music? Will be glad to receive your insightful takes on this. ©️Kelvin Emelobe, 2024. #music #musiceducation #school #schools #musicbusiness #education #gemseducation #canada #musiccomposer #education
