Harry Stebbings' 20VC closes new $400M fund to ‘make Europe great again,’ Harry Stebbings Harry Stebbings, a former podcaster turned venture capitalist, has raised a $400 million fund under his firm 20VC to back European startups. The fund will focus on seed and Series A investments. Stebbings uses his media influence and connections to attract attention to the region and has secured significant U.S. investor support. Despite not being a technologist, Stebbings focuses on identifying great founders rather than following specific tech trends. His firm operates sub-funds led by experienced operators to help startups with practical advice. Stebbings believes that while venture returns may decline overall, top firms can still achieve outsized gains. One promising investment is Tripledot, a gaming company valued at over $1 billion. https://lnkd.in/esJAXuft

Great article by Tom Richardson in the AFR about how investors can start investing in startups. Some good insights from Alan Jones, Cheryl Mack and myself. It talks about the Sydney Angels process and some of the massive winners we've had. If you're potentially interested in angel investing, have a read of the article. Covers Aussie Angels and M8 Ventures as well. https://lnkd.in/gzV9Bk5J #SydneyAngels #AngelInvesting #StartupAUS

Shameless self-promotion alert 😁 It’s quite hard for fund managers to talk about their fund, but in today’s busy market it’s part of the game... For me, it’s always about letting #founders talk about our work rather than us praising ourselves. Recently, I got the chance to chat with Pulse 2.0, where I had the opportunity to discuss 97212 Ventures, our mission, and our commitment to investing in top early-stage Israeli startups with a New York state of mind. At 97212, we’re all about moving early-stage Israeli #startups from zero to one, while working hard with Israeli founders on building their businesses in the US and unlocking their full potential. It’s a long journey, and we love being there at the earliest stages to help founders crawl, walk, and run. More about the evolution of our fund, and what makes us tick below. #foundersjourney #venture capital #nyctech

Summary: Chemistry, a new venture capital firm, has raised $350 million for its debut fund. The firm was launched by three experienced partners and plans to invest in early-stage startups.\ Key takeaways: Chemistry is a newly launched venture capital firm, led by three experienced partners - Mark Goldberg, Kristina Shen, and Ethan Kurzweil. The firm's debut fund was 2x oversubscribed, indicating high demand and interest from investors. Chemistry will invest in early-stage startups, primarily at the Series A stage, across various categories including fintech, infrastructure, and developer tools and work software. Counter arguments: Some may argue that Chemistry's focus on early-stage startups may be riskier compared to investing in more established companies. The competition in the venture capital industry is high, and there may be concerns about Chemistry's ability to stand out and successfully invest in promising startups. #venturecapital #vc #startups
