[143/365] It takes everyone to raise a child. The oft-repeated truism of "it takes a village to raise a child" understates the importance of clarifying the roles stakeholders play when doing so. Parents are not the child's teachers. Teachers are not the child's parents. Both play unique yet complementary roles in nurturing the whole child. ---------- Some hard questions should be addressed: 1️⃣ Do we agree on the desired outcomes for the child? 2️⃣ What do we actually mean when we say "home-school partnership"? 3️⃣ Who is more responsible in shaping the child's values? 4️⃣ What happens when a stakeholder is unwilling/unable to play their part? ---------- Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE), in partnership with Whitehatters Limited, is seeking feedback from parents and educators to co-create the future of home-school partnerships (see post below). I hope a diversity of voices and opinions will get involved, rather than just the motivated minority. If you are interested, you can sign up via https://lnkd.in/gUsM9XEh Shahrany Hassan

Just earned my certificate in Child Rights programming, and it ignited a profound realization of the pivotal role children play in shaping our future. The fading of the old underscores the urgency to focus on implementing children's rights principles in programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation with the goal of empowering and guiding children who are our next generation movers. This course reiterated the significance of mentorship, urging us to trust in the boundless potential harbored by each child. They deserve not just a seat in decision-making table but a platform where their perspectives are genuinely heard. Their perspectives are not just valuable but essential for building a society that is progressive, empathetic, and forward-thinking. During my learning sessions, i learned the need to not only mentor children but to actively provide platforms for children to explore and showcase their unique talents and gifts. Children aren't just recipients of our legacy, they are architects of our future. Let's commit to creating environments that nurture their creativity, curiosity, and resilience, ensuring we pave the way for children. Did you know that the word ‘June’ is connected to ‘children?’ It originates from the Latin word ‘Juvenis,’ which means ‘youth.’ How fitting is it that this month is designated as Children's Awareness Month? At #PavingTheWayFoundation, we believe every child deserves to feel cherished, supported, and empowered. Children deserve love, respect, and the opportunity to reach their full potential. They should be nurtured in environments that encourage their curiosity, creativity, and confidence. One of the best ways to show children they are valued is by supporting their education. Research has consistently shown that the earlier children begin receiving quality education, the more significant the impact on their future success. Here are some ways you can help stimulate young minds and foster their development today: One-on-One Instruction, Multi-Sensory Play, Modeling, and Encouragement and Praise. Take action now and make a meaningful impact. Choose one of these methods and try it with a child today. Share your experiences and ideas in the comments below to inspire and empower others! #empower #prevent #educate #pavingthewayfoundation #PTWF #ChildrensAwarenessMonth Parent Tool Kit: https://lght.ly/gi3c1eh Our Website: https://lght.ly/0c6lamd

Bridge Builder Between Schools and Families; National Speaker, Trainer & Coach; Award-Winning Author
“Schools tend to plan everything unilaterally, even events for families. When I take an unvarnished look back at my six years as a school principal, I feel both embarrassment and regret that we rarely brought families to the decision-making table. We did not even include their expert voices when we planned events such as back-to-school nights or parent-teacher conferences. By failing to include family perspectives, we consistently missed out on the opportunity to improve these events for all stakeholders… Through their participation on FET teams, family members and educators grow steadily more confident and vocal in pursuing needed changes. In essence, they each acknowledge their independence and use it to inspire shared action. Their collaboration creates tangible change and disperses the responsibility for creating a just school.” In honor of the launch of my book On The Same Team: Bringing Educators and Underrepresented Families Together, this is one of a few quotes I’m sharing. My book highlights many of the learnings from hundreds of collaborative gatherings that center family voices and offer a proven structure for creating more equitable schools. #k12education, #teachers, #education, #teachingandlearning, #educationalleadership #familyengagement #parents #schoolleadership Solution Tree NAFSCE (National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement) Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE)

A passionate educator, keen at impacting knowledge to future leaders. Preparing them to discover themselves and be great thinkers for the next generation.
Empathy and Inclusion: supporting special needs Children. Supporting and including special needs children in education is vital. it's about recognizing their potential, fostering their talents, and showing empathy. As Michael Showunmi will always say There's ability in disability. Let me introduce you to Taiwo Akolawole, a learner with a speech impediment but speaks volumes through his actions. When I first met Taiwo, understanding his body language and gestures was a challenge. However, with time, observation, and making him feel comfortable, I learned to communicate with him effectively. Taiwo's love for sports and hands-on activities became evident, leading me to include him in all our sports events. Taiwo is incredibly hardworking. He keeps the class neat and helps maintain order. He participates in every activity and is given the same rights as every other child. Taiwo is my right-hand man, keeping me informed of everything that happens in class when I'm away. His presence is a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and inclusion in our schools. from this I learnt *Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of special needs children enriches our community. *Inclusion: Every child deserves equal opportunities and respect, fostering a sense of belonging. *Recognition: Celebrating the unique talents and contributions of each child enhances their confidence and growth. Taiwo's story teaches us that with patience and empathy, we can unlock the potential in every child, making our schools a place where everyone thrives.. #TeachForNigeria #TFNImpactStories #TFNLeaders #TFN2022Fellows #TFNSchoolLeaders #TFN2024Graduation #TFN2024GraduationCountdown #Day11Challenge Deborah IKAMANISHE Bright Kemasuode Gabriel Adejo Nuhu Maikano Samuel Kelechi.1st Samuel Benjamin

While scrolling through my feed, I came across an image that made me pause and reflect. It got me thinking deeply—why do we need to uplift others and how can we do this better? Then, I was reminded of a simple truth: A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. In special education, this resonates so strongly. Every time we support, guide, and nurture a child, we're helping them shine brighter without diminishing our own light. The more we uplift each other—students, educators, and families—the brighter the whole community becomes. Let’s continue to light the way for those who need it most. Together, we can create a more inclusive and empowered future. #inclusive#specialeducator#thoughtful#teamwork#team

Jesus saw His mission in terms of reaching the world, not as a one-man army, but by making disciples who could make disciples who could make disciples to reach the world.
It takes a village to raise a child. The changing dynamics of modern society, our lifestyles become more fast-paced, people often find themselves immersed in individualistic pursuits, limiting the time and energy available for community engagement. Technological advances, such as online communities and social media, may create virtual connections but can sometimes substitute genuine face-to-face interactions within a physical community. The proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" The responsibility of raising a child extends beyond the immediate family to the broader community. It is the collective effort and support needed for a child's well-rounded development. Parents alone cannot provide all the necessary guidance and experiences for a child's growth. Within a community, various individuals and institutions play crucial roles in shaping a child's values, education, and social skills. Teachers, Churches, extended family, and friends all contribute unique perspectives and influences. A child benefits from diverse role models and a network of relationships that foster a sense of belonging and security. The interconnectedness of society in nurturing the next generation. The importance of collaboration, shared values, and a collective commitment to providing children with a stable and enriching environment. Establishing mentorship programs and seize opportunities for connection, collaboration, and support, we can provide spaces for shared experiences and guidance. work towards revitalizing the spirit of "it takes a village" in our modern society. #DCAcademy #leadershipdevelopment #DennisChua
