To celebrate, Eurest Executive Chef Gio Ricci and The Plant-It Food Co’s Global Culinary Leader Patrick Clement hosted a Chef’s Table at Citizens campus in Johnston, Rhode Island.
To commemorate this partnership, over 50 volunteers planted 30 native trees and shrubs along the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council Greenway.

Following the launch of our LinkedIn posts on plant-containing meat (=part meat, part plant-based), we received a mix of enthusiastic responses as well as a few questions and concerns. Therefore we want to address some common myths surrounding (technically termed) “hybrid” meat.
Many people love the taste and experience of real meat. And we do not want to take this culinary joy away. Instead, we believe in providing solutions that cater to different preferences and needs in society. This is why the Meatless goal is to offer a new and additional option. By blending meat with plant-based ingredients, you actually improve your burger in terms of juiciness and texture. You get a juicier burger but it is lower in costs and at the same time has a lower environmental impact. It’s combining the best of both worlds.

A great listen, and one that really made me sit up and think - how do we not have a total food systems strategy, with a long-term vision for success?
The food system is so utterly critical for New Zealand, with far-reaching impacts across economic, social, and environmental sustainability:
💸 With the primary industries making up a majority of our exports, our global competitiveness and economic stability are reliant upon a sustainable food system.
👫 The far-reaching societal impacts of the food system are clear, from impacts upon public health, to growing food insecurity and inequality in access to nutritious food across the motu.
🌱 We know how interconnected our food system is with the environment. The food system relies upon a sustainable ecosystems and natural resources, but equally have significant impact upon these resources.
Without a national food plan that brings together the multitude of parties involved and impacted by this system, are we essentially passengers on a high-speed train to who-knows-what future?
