⭐ The Mercedes-Benz G-Class EQ gathers a 2019 five-star rating ⭐ Euro NCAP recently performed the 2019 safety protocols on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class EQ. It is a variant to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Some additional tests and checks have been done to ensure that the rating of the G-Class, tested in 2019, applies to the electric variant.🚨 The passenger compartment of the G-Class remained stable in the frontal offset test. Mercedes-Benz showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sitting in different positions. In both the side barrier test and the side pole impact, protection of a l critical body areas was good and the G-Class scored maximum points. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end co lision. The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed wel in tests at the low speeds, typical of city driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused. 🛣️ Read the full press release here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g2-2SCJT 🚗 See its detailed results here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dJPg8fN 🚗 Mercedes-Benz AG #ncap #euroncap #safety #forsafercars #forsafervans #howsafeisyourcar #saferroads #safety #rating #roadsafety #drivesafely #cars #safercars #safetyratings #consumerprotection #electricvehicles #crashavoidance #ADAS #AD #assisteddriving #stars #MercedesBenz #GClass #EQ

"The inevitable conclusion then must surely be that road safety can be improved by removing the distracted human from the equation and leaving a computer to do the driving." "The solution to road safety, delivered in a manner that allows lawyers to sleep at night, can I believe be found in motorsport." "This was the point where automotive technology technology exceeded what even some of the world’s very best drivers could manage without it." "And, apart from a few minor innovations in road cars and trucks, such as radar that (hopefully – but not always!) applies the brakes in time to avoid a crash if the driver is distracted, or cameras that watch for white lines and read road signs when the driver doesn’t bother, is about where we are now." We're pleased to unveil the 2024 What Car? Safety Award shortlist. Congratulations to BMW UK, BYD, Lexus UK, Mercedes-Benz in the UK, and Volkswagen. In a year when safety ratings were updated to be more stringent than ever, all these vehicles achieved the top 5-star rating from Euro NCAP - For Safer Cars, Vans & Trucks. This year’s shortlist features crucial safety features such as: Safe driving: Some safety systems can receive complaints of feeling too intrusive to the driving experience, this year we looked at which systems work with the driver instead of against them. Crash avoidance: Motorbikes can be difficult for safety systems to detect due to their small profile and position on the roads. The new motorcycle target scenarios reflect real-world situations and allow for testing the response of Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). Crash protection: Larger, heavier vehicles can pose a risk to other road users in the event of a collision. This year we looked at how cars minimise the risk of injury to vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists in the event of a collision, and how energy can be managed in the event of a heavy vehicle impacting a lighter one. This is an impressive group of cars, and we applaud carmakers for pushing the safety envelope. The winner will be announced next week on Thursday 18 January. ID.7 wins coveted What Car? Safety Award At this year’s prestigious What Car? Awards, the ID.7 drove away with the highly coveted Safety Award. T-Roc also scooped Best Small SUV for comfort, 12 months after it won its category outright. Judges said they were particularly impressed by the way the ID.7 protects people inside and outside of the car, and how drivers can interact with its advanced technology. “The ID.7 was a clear winner in the minds of all the What Car? Safety Award judges, because it provides excellent protection for occupants of different statures, proving that Volkswagen takes an inclusive approach to safety,” said Steve Huntingford, What Car? editor. The Volkswagen ID.7 recently received a maximum five-star rating in the highly respected Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) safety test. With its five-star rating, the ID.7 joins the ranks of Volkswagen’s other ID. models that have also previously received the highest Euro NCAP score. The all-electric flagship was found to deliver excellent results in all the independent test organisation’s assessment areas, for both car occupants and unprotected road users, while also scoring well for standard assist systems such as emergency braking. #volkswagen #vw #id7 #euroncap #whatcar

Consumer Reports Petition encouraged new standards for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) whereby newly made vehicles, required them to come with Automatic Emergency Braking AEB technology which will brake on its own before a perceived impact. "According to the new standard, vehicles must be able to avoid a crash at speeds of up to 62 mph and brake at speeds of up to 90 mph when a crash is imminent. It also requires vehicles to avoid a crash with a pedestrian at speeds of up to 45 mph, including in darkness." #technology #cars #NHTSA #ConsumerReports #carule https://lnkd.in/eJBviTqe

New from NHTSA this morning: Top auto safety regulators upgraded a probe into nearly 3 million Honda Motor Co. vehicles to further assess the frequency and safety issues related to unexpected activation of emergency braking systems. NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation first opened a preliminary evaluation into Honda in February 2022 to probe 2018-19 Honda Accord midsize cars and 2017-19 Honda CR-V compact crossovers. NHTSA updated the probe to an engineering analysis on Monday and expanded the scope to include 2020-2022 Honda CR-V and Accord vehicles. 50 injuries and 30 alleged crashes were reported, according to NHTSA. 🚨 Euro NCAP calls on carmakers to make ADAS more widely available in small panel vans 🚨 Today, for the first time, Euro NCAP releases the crash avoidance ratings for eight vans in the small panel van category, most of which have equivalent passenger versions. Unlike Euro NCAP’s car safety rating, the organisation’s commercial van rating focuses specifically on crash avoidance technology. This is because in van crashes, by far the most casualties are in the opponent vehicle or vulnerable road users. This release is particularly significant because it delivers a snapshot of the safety of small panel vans currently available to businesses before new rules on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) come into effect in the General Safety Regulations (GSR) in July. ⚙️ "Van manufacturers often offer safety technologies but rarely encourage buyers to specify this vital equipment that could save lives. By making customers pay for extra safety technology without promoting the benefits, safety technology becomes a bargaining tool," explains Dr. Aled Williams, Programme Director of Euro NCAP. 🚘 Read the full press release here 👉 bit.ly/2403EuroNCAPPR 🚗 Mercedes-Benz AG Volkswagen Renault Citroën Fiat Opel Vauxhall Motors Ltd Peugeot #ncap #euroncap #safety #forsafercars #forsafervans #howsafeisyourcar #saferroads #safety #rating #roadsafety #drivesafely #cars #safercars #safetyratings #consumerprotection #electricvehicles #crashavoidance #vans #commercialvans #smallpanelvans #MercedesBenz #VW #Renault #Citroen #FIAT #Opel #Vauxhall #Peugeot

2024 represents an important year for ADAS systems. Starting from July 2024 the GSR II legislation mandates that all new cars must come equipped with specified safety systems as standard 🚗 Consequently, vehicles initially introduced without these systems, in instances where adaptation is not feasible, may be withdrawn from sale or set to be phased out in Europe in 2024. With their pros and cons, ADAS systems are becoming more and more innovative and technologically developed, however there is again a short percentage of people (14%) who find ADAS irritating or distracting, in particular the most irritating or distracting system is blindspot monitoring 👀 Read the article for more informations:
