Updates to the European Contaminants Regulation (EU) 2023/915 Regulation (EU) 2024/1756, which has the effect of amending Regulation (EU) 2023/915 on maximum levels for certain contaminants in food, came into force in July 2024. Among other things, it outlines changes for maximum levels of contaminants in oats/oat products, packaged cereal products, rice products, baby food, linseed, and venison. Regulation (EU) 2024/1451 of the European Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1451 of the European Commission, dated May 24, 2024, amends Annexes II and III of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 regarding food additives. The amendments specifically concern the food additives L(+)-tartaric acid (E 334), sodium tartrates (E 335), potassium tartrates (E 336), sodium and potassium tartrate (E 337), and calcium tartrate (E 354). Key Points: 1. Establishment of a Group ADI: A group Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) of 240 mg/kg body weight per day has been established for tartaric acid and its salts. 2. Revision of Use Conditions: The use conditions for these additives have been revised, removing authorizations in food categories where no data was provided by the food industry. 3. New Maximum Levels: Numeric maximum levels for these additives have been set for specific food categories based on provided data. 4. Adjustments
