🌍 RGS joins the European project RE-ENERGIZE to boost heat pump deployment! 🌿   We are thrilled to announce that RGS has signed the Grand Agreement for the RE-ENERGIZE project, part of the LIFE-2023-CET-HEATPUMPS program. This project represents a pivotal step in our journey towards a green and sustainable economy, under the leadership of our new president, Ban Horia.   Project details:   🌱 Objective: Increasing the number of qualified installers and promoting energy efficiency across Europe, with a strong emphasis on heat pumps. 🚀 Partners: Lietuvos Energetikos Institutas (Lithuania) - Coordinator Energy Agency of Plovdiv Association (Bulgaria) Eurotraining Educational Organization (Greece) Novel Group SARL (Luxembourg) Universidad de Malaga (Spain) Societatea Română Geoexchange (Romania) ADEPORTO-Agência de Energia do Porto (Portugal) 📅 Duration: 3 years (2024-2027).   Together with our partners, we will develop capacities in renewable heating/cooling technologies, focusing on advancing the adoption of heat pumps. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency and contribute to achieving EU climate goals. We are committed to raising public awareness and ensuring long-term impact through collaboration and disseminating results.   In parallel, the RE-ENERGIZE project runs alongside the COOLING DOWN project, part of the Horizon 2020 program coordinated by EGEC. Estonia’s Energy Evolution: Iru Power Plant’s Transition to Sustainable Heat Production from Mixed Household Waste The Competition Authority has confirmed the heat price limit for mixed household waste processed at the Iru power plant to be 12.36 euros per megawatt hour, maintaining its status as the most affordable heat source in Estonia. AS Utilitas continues to purchase this heat for Tallinn and Maardu’s district heating customers. Great to see the Clean Energy for Buildings in #Uzbekistan project moving forward. Aimed at enhancing the energy efficiency of over 500 public buildings across the country, this initiative focuses on retrofitting buildings with outdated infrastructure to meet modern energy standards, which will lead to significant energy savings and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. By harnessing what is often called the "first fuel" in clean energy transitions—#EnergyEfficiency – this project will support Uzbekistan's climate goals. Funded by a $143 million concessional loan from the World Bank, the project will improve the energy efficiency of schools, hospitals, and clinics. This project sets a valuable example of how public and private sectors can collaborate on energy efficiency to achieve sustainability goals. Reflecting on Day 2 of the International Energy Agency (IEA) 9th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency in Nairobi, Pancras O., Energy 4 Impact's Senior Technical Specialist, shared some powerful insights from IEA Executive Director, Fatih Birol's discussion on the crucial interlink between clean cooking and energy efficiency. In a continent like Africa 🌍, where nearly 4 out of 5 families still rely on harmful cooking fuels such as wood and charcoal 🔥, Mr Birol emphasised that sustainable clean cooking initiatives must integrate energy efficiency as a core component.  This holistic approach also includes energy access ⚡ and financial inclusion 💰, which are essential for addressing the key needs and pain points of targeted markets. Development partners have a role to play in building the capacity and technical know-how of all actors across the value chain, particularly governments, to support the maturation of energy efficiency policies and standards.
