EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) JU is building an HPC quantum #infrastructure for Europe's scientific community. For the #EuroQExa system based at the LRZ, IQM Quantum Computers is initially supplying a Radiance system with a 54-qubit processor, followed by a 150-qubit system in 2026. As soon as #supercomputers are accelerated by #GPU or #GraphicsProcessingUnits, the next #accelerators are already being prepared: Today's #ISC24 is all about #quantumcomputing and #QPU. As is well known, these are also being integrated into #highperformancecomputers at the LRZ. The LRZ Quantum Computing and Technologies team is therefore participating today with partner organisations from Munich Quantum Valley in several panels and lectures and reports on the first practical steps in this task. A few experiences: • #simulations of #quantumalgorithms on classical #supercomputers deepen the understanding of the #hardware and support the development of software: https://lnkd.in/dHwiXS53 • In their current state, #quantumcomputers still need a lot of support, e.g. they have to be calibrated regularly. I’ve presented at the IEEE NSS MIC on our work in “PET/MR denoising using a Diffusion Schrödinger Bridge model” for lower dose PET scans (11C-DASB tracer). Unlike conventional conditional diffusion models, that start their reverse sampling from pure Gaussian noise and risk losing valuable information, our approach directly connects two distributions: one representing lower dose PET volumes and the other, normal dose PET volumes. This maintains the integrity of the image content while enhancing quality. We also introduced a 3D architecture with memory-efficient patch-wise training, making it practical for real-world applications. Our method preserved image detail and advancing patient care through reduced radiation exposure and lower sensitivity traces. Nawaz Ali (University of Calabria) just presented the paper titled "Customized EdgeCloudSim: Enhanced Mobility and Network Models for Urban Vehicular Edge Computing" at the 28th International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications (DS-RT 2024) in Urbino, Italy. The paper presents a research contribution to the MLSysOps Project related to the simulation-based evaluation of certain aspects of the framework, based on the #EdgeCloudSim simulator.
