Have you already heard? As of last week we have six additional proposals to establish AI Factories in the EU 🎉 This brings the total to 13 selected sites, bringing together partners from 17 🇪🇺 Member States and two neighbouring countries. AI Factories put together powerful EU supercomputers, large datasets, and experts, to develop and train advanced AI models. The newly selected AI Factories will be hosted in Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Poland, and Slovenia, supported by a combined national and EU investment of around €485 million. Together with the first selection of seven AI Factories, these sites will provide the four key ingredients for AI success: computing, data, algorithms, and, most importantly, talented people driving AI innovation. They will support AI companies, particularly SMEs and startups, as well as researchers, helping them develop and train large-scale, trustworthy, and ethical AI models. These sites will also promote AI solutions tailored to industrial sectors, public authorities, and scientific research. They are a key pillar of the upcoming Apply AI Strategy, which will drive industrial AI adoption across Europe’s leading sectors, including science. The role of AI Factories in strengthening Europe’s AI and supercomputing capabilities will be discussed at the #EuroHPC Summit in Krakow this week. The summit brings together policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to explore the future of high-performance computing in Europe.
