Baskut Tuncak, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Hazardous Substances, observed that “the right of all workers to safe and healthy working conditions sadly remains far more a privilege than a universal human right.” Essential protections in business and human rights include safe work environments, fair remuneration, equal pay, collective bargaining rights, and safeguards against forced labour and trafficking. Despite the global recognition of safe and healthy working conditions as fundamental human rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) reports that 2.7 million workers die each year from unsafe conditions and exposures. #safeworkplace #workersright #humarights #safeworkingconditions
