We need to look beyond the international approaches and instruments of post conflict peace building and rule of law. We need a much more vernacular, creative, and plurastic approach to this challenge. Here's a piece on how sound and performance was brought into productive engagement with the highly prescribed, technocratic processes that dominate mainstream post-conflict interventions in the context of complex conflict of south Sudan. https://lnkd.in/gTJhF-7y We need to design and create our own process of truth and reconciliation to create দায় - দরদের বাংলাদেশ 🇧🇩

When do we, as lawyers and proponents of international law say, Enough is Enough? Here, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC delivers both a plea and a warning at the the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza Conference. The plea is for States and political actors finally to act to uphold the Geneva Conventions, pursuant to which every human life is equal . The warning is that if we continue to allow Israel to continue its campaign of human extermination , in its “disregard for human life and dignity”, with impunity, a “dangerous tolerance will be set for violations of the Geneva Conventions which will set a precedent for how wars will be fought in future”. #Gaza #Palestine #GenevaConventions #humanitarianlaw #internationallaw https://lnkd.in/ez9xhJ85

This provision, often referred to as the “impunity clause,” has sparked intense debate about the role of the African Court in addressing international crimes and upholding the rule of law. Despite these challenges, the Malabo Protocol remains an important initiative for enhancing regional accountability and justice in Africa. Exploring Constitution-Making as a Path to Peace in Ethiopia: In the midst of ongoing conflict, a constitution-making process could serve as a powerful tool for resolving deep-rooted political issues and fostering lasting peace. By learning from South Africa's 1996 experience, Ethiopia can work towards lasting peace, using a democratic and inclusive constitution making model that addresses the political questions that are very germane to the stability of the nation.
