#EBAA backs Dassault Aviation in its legal action against #businessaviation exclusion from the EU taxonomy. In this interview with Aviation International News at #EBACE24, our Secretary General Holger Krahmer explained why this action was needed to defend the sector against discriminatory measures that may impede our companies' ability to innovate. In this insightful Aviation International News' article, our Chief Operations Officer, Robert Baltus, shed light on how the regulatory landscape for #businessaviation will look like in 2024. EBAA's main policy priorities will be: ✅ EU Taxonomy - clarify the interpretation and implementation of the new taxonomy criteria to make sure Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change (BACCC) is reflected in the legislation. ✅ Inclusion of Book-and-Claim in the scope of the ReFuelEU legislation ✅ Full implementation of the Single European Sky (SES) ✅Aviation taxes at both EU and national levels Read the article 👉 https://lnkd.in/gpEcM3hG

✈ In a new study from More in Common, 44% of survey respondents call for greater environmental efforts from airlines, while only 7% think they're currently hitting the mark. The survey (polling of 12,000 people and focus groups) shows that Europeans (in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands): 🔹 Are optimistic about the role new technology will play in addressing aviation's climate impact 🔹 Think a tax on jet fuel and higher ticket prices are key to financing the decarbonisation of aviation 🔹 Are skeptical of greenwashing tactics by airlines, such as over-promising on the sustainability of their fuels or how they are addressing their environmental impact 🔹 Want governments to focus on making trains cheaper than planes 🔹 Want tougher action for private jet users who should start picking up the bill 👉 Learn more in the "Europe Talks Flying" report: https://lnkd.in/emKux4zE #EuropeTalksFlying #AviationEmissions #SustainableAviation #Elections

Today we heard from our aviation Director - Emily Hickson - and our research partners at nfpResearch about the role of investors in accelerating progress towards decarbonising the aviation sector 💸 A few of my key takeaways... 💰 All investors, from venture capitalists to multilateral development banks, can play an important role in catalysing momentum towards a viable net-zero aviation pathway 💰 Alternative jet fuels (SAFs) are taking up a lot of the interest in this space, but increasingly so are some other future tech like electric and hydrogen aircraft (although perhaps too much for things like eVTOLs 🤔) 💰 Many investors in SAF startups are perceived as 'strategic' investors versus 'financial' investors, which are really what's needed for plants to reach Final Investment Decision 💰 Governments are already supporting activity in this space - through policies and financial mechanisms - so the industry really needs to start taking substantial action in funding its own transition... Our aviation team at Climate Catalyst has produced summaries of the policy landscape for alternative aviation fuels in the UK, EU and US which you can read here 📑 : https://lnkd.in/gg4XQ_-x ...and keep an eye out for our full research report on the role of investors in aviation decarbonisation coming soon! 👀 #sustainableaviation #aviation #SAF #investment #climateaction

Since the 1999 IPCC Special Report, a number of scientific assessments of aviation’s climate impacts have been conducted. Despite these advances in the details of the underlying science, uncertainties on non-CO2 effects remain. The climate effects of emissions from aviation were reassessed in 2020 and are presented as Effective Radiative Forcing (ERF) in the chart below. Red bars indicate warming effects and blue bars indicate cooling effects. Numerical best estimate ERF and RF values are given in the columns with 5–95% confidence intervals along with ERF/RF ratios and confidence levels. You will find this and many other interesting data in European Aviation Environmental Report. The aim of the report is to provide an objective, clear and accurate source of information on the environmental performance of the aviation sector at the European level. It also reports on actions being put in place to drive forward sustainability ambitions, and contains recommendations on how the level of environmental protection could be improved.
