I have the opportunity to review every outcome in collaboration with economists, engineers, physicists, and chemists.” 🔎 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲… “H2Avia and HOPE Horizon Europe project. Here I contribute by developing and simulating future scenarios reflecting introduction of hydrogen and SAF powered aircrafts with the goal to estimate its impact on overall emissions and direct operating costs. Important elements being considered here are production capacity ramp-up of new aircrafts, supply infrastructure deployment for hydrogen as well as future evolution of policies." 💎 Adnan is part of our Economics & Transportation team, his research focus is “Network, Fleet and Operations”. Recently, I started focusing on the area of commercial aviation, I explore novel approaches to airline scheduling, including fleet sharing, particularly in the context of transatlantic operations between Europe and North America within the NetShair project. The results of this work will be used to estimate the maximum potential of aircraft sharing and passenger bundling between airlines, filling a crucial gap in the literature and providing valuable insights for both the scientific community and practitioners." 💎 Vasiliki is part of our Economics & Transportation team, her research focus is “Network, Fleet and Operations”. 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴! Mirko Hornung had the privilege of discussing the future of aviation at the National University of Singapore. The event brought together students, experts, industry professionals and government representatives to explore 🔸 sustainable energy options, 🔸 the pressing need to improve aircraft efficiency, 🔸 and the implementation of operational measures to reduce aviation’s climate impact. The discussion underscored the 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. 🙏 for the opportunity to speak and for the engaging exchange. 𝗞𝗶𝗰𝗸-𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗪𝗶𝗧𝗘 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘁 #BauhausLuftfahrt! Embarking on a new journey is always special, and this LuFo-funded project is no exception. 𝗗𝗪𝗶𝗧𝗘 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 “𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”, and this project is dedicated to identifying and analyzing synergetic technologies for commercial aircraft wings 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 as well as optimizing these novel wings on aircraft level. 💪 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁? Because dry wings are a key technology for hydrogen aviation due to their novelty and potential to mitigate the expected increased energy demand when compared to aircraft powered by drop-in sustainable aviation fuels.    🤝 Our colleagues Alexandros Lessis, Fabian Peter, Nils Roth, and Michael Lüdemann, who is leading the project, are looking forward to the joint research work with Jan Knop from Technische Universität Hamburg, Paul Mauerer and Lukas Neuerburg from RWTH Aachen University, and Fanglin Yu from Technische Universität München.  A big 🙏 to the participants of the first workshop for defining work packages and the next steps!
